New Build Homes in the West Midlands
The West Midlands is a popular county in the UK, home to the city of Birmingham. However, there’s much more to the county than Birmingham, with towns like Dudley and villages like Keresley offering a calmer, more rural and residential alternative to the big city.
Where is the West Midlands?
The West Midlands is a centrally located county, encompassing the likes of Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton.
The county is bordered by Staffordshire to the north, Warwickshire to the east and Worcestershire to the south.
Transport in the West Midlands
The West Midlands are served by the West Midlands Metro – a tram network that stretches from Wolverhampton to Birmingham and runs across four public transport zones.
The West Midlands also has its own dedicated bus network, connecting cities like Wolverhampton and Birmingham to towns like Redditch, Walsall and Dudley, as well as the many surrounding villages.
There’s also Birmingham International Airport, which is situated on the outskirts of Birmingham, to the southeast of the city.
Shopping in the West Midlands
One of the major shopping centres in the West Midlands is the Bullring. Situated in Birmingham, the Bullring is a huge indoor mall within walking distance of Birmingham New Street train station – making it easy for commuters from outside the city to visit.
It consists of three floors across two wings, and is home to over 160 shops, including Calvin Klein, Rolex, Levi’s, Clarks, Pandora, and LEGO.
The complex also offers a bowling alley and a Treetop Golf.
There are also a number of smaller shopping centres situated across the county, including Wulfrun in Wolverhampton and West Orchards in Coventry.
Things to do in the West Midlands
The West Midlands offers all manner of attractions. In Dudley for example, you’ll find the Dudley Zoo and Castle - a family friendly zoo that houses an eclectic selection of creatures, including snow leopards, tigers and binturongs.
You’ll also find a number of conservatory and farm-based attractions in Birmingham, including SEA LIFE and the Balsall Heath City Farm.
The West Midlands also has many museums spread across the county, including the Lapworth Museum of Geology, the Sarehole Mill Museum and the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
The best places to buy new homes in the West Midlands
The West Midlands is home to several towns and villages that would make for an excellent home. Below are a few of our favourite:
Keresley
Keresley is a village on the edge of Coventry, located in the southeast of the West Midlands. It provides a small-town atmosphere with its own amenities, including a range of local shops, a sports club and a community library.
With its close proximity to the city of Coventry, with the popular city only a 15-minute drive away, and the beautiful views of the Warwickshire countryside the village offers, Keresley is a stunning place that many choose to call home.
The village is also about 40 minutes’ drive from Birmingham and enjoys easy access to several bus routes as well as the M6.
Explore our development in Keresley.
Rubery
Rubery is a residential suburb, located on the outskirts of Birmingham. The suburb has its own Omniplex cinema, retail park as well as several gyms, with the countryside surrounding it home to a number of nature parks and woodlands.
We have a number of new homes situated just north of Rubery, 10 minutes from an M5 junction roundabout, allowing for easy access to the likes of Worcester and Birmingham.
Dudley
Dudley is an up-and-coming town that, as of November 2025, is undergoing an extensive rejuvenation project.
Situated in the west of the county, Dudley like just south of Wolverhampton and west of Birmingham. Thanks to its proximity to both major cities, Dudley is thought to be an ideal commuter town for those looking to work but not necessarily live in the neighbouring cities.
Dudley is home to a popular zoo and castle complex, as well as its own hospital, a shopping centre, and a cinema, providing you with a whole host of amenities you won’t need to leave the town to access.
