Getting to and from Ashby-de-la-Zouch
You’ll find an access point for the A42 just 3 minutes from our new homes in Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
The A42 provides a quick and easy route to several of the town’s neighbouring cities - namely Nottingham and Birmingham – both of which can be reached in as little as 35 minutes via the A42.
In terms of neighbouring towns, the likes of Burton-upon Trent can be reached in under 30 minutes, whereas other towns – like Coalville, Swadlincote, Castle Donington, and Shepshed – can all be accessed within 15-20 minutes.
There’s a bus stop on the doorstep of our development, called “The School” - about a minute’s walk from your front door – that offers services to Burton-on-Trent train station. The number 9 bus will take you straight to the train station where you can catch services to the likes of Nottingham, Birmingham New Street, Plymouth, Cardiff, and Dundee. The number 9 bus will also take you straight to the East Midlands airport.
Other buses you can take include the 29 and the 29a – which take you to Leicester St Margaret’s.
Things to do in Ashby-de-la-Zouch
At Ashby Fields, you’ll be within walking distance of several parks, including Ashby Depot – 13 minutes’ walk away- which boasts both an expansive football field and a basketball court.
There are also a number of play parks nearby. These include the Birch Road Kids Play Park – about 8 minute’s walk away, Hood Park Playground & Skate Park – 11 minutes’ walk away, and Hastings Playground – 14 minutes’ walk away.
You’ll also find the Ashby Leisure Centre & Lido – 10 minutes’ walk away – which offers a swimming pool, a football pitch, four multipurpose indoor sports courts and two outdoor ones.
We’re also just 8 minutes’ walk from Market Street – the town’s main shopping district. Walking down Market Street, you’ll come across established names like Boots, WH Smith and Card Factory, as well as a whole host of independent retailers. The local library is also situated on Market Street too. There’s also an outdoor market every third weekend of the month.
There’s a Co-op supermarket about 10 minutes’ walk away from our development, as well as both an M&S Food Hall and a Tesco within 15 minutes of our development too.
Popular schools in Ashby-de-la-Zouch
There are several primary schools near our development, including:
- Woodcote Primary School - 9 minutes’ drive away, Woodcote caters for children between the ages of 3 and 11.
- Ashby Hastings Primary School - Accepting children aged 4-11, Ashby Hasting is 11 minutes’ drive from our development.
Secondary schools in the area include:
- Ashby School - A secondary school and sixth form college across the road from our development, Ashby School offers an extensive A-Level curriculum that includes subjects such as Music, Drama, Design, Computer Science, and Modern Languages. The school caters for children ages 11-19.
- Ivanhoe School - Just 9 minutes’ walk from our development, Ivanhoe caters to children between the ages of 11 and 16.
There are also a couple of nurseries and preschools within 10 minutes’ walk of our development, including Ashby Castle Day Nursery & Pre-preparatory School and Ashby Nursery School & Preschool Academy.
Living in Ashby-de-la-Zouch
A popular market town, at Ashby-de-la-Zouch's heart is its traditional market street – a market street our development is only 10 minutes’ away from.
However, beyond its markets, Ashby-de-la-Zouch has much to offer, with the historic ruins of Ashby Castle within 8 minutes’ walk of our development, and an outdoor leisure park – CONKERS – a 12-minute drive away.
Across its 120 acres, CONKERS offers visitors access to its high ropes course, its archery station and its woodland museum, also allowing visitors to hire out a pedalo or a canoe.
There’s also a golf course about 7 minutes’ drive away at Willesley Park as well as a fishery about 12 minutes’ drive away - Willesley Lake Carp and Course Fishery.
For a lovely day out with the kids, there’s Twycross Zoo – 15 minutes’ drive away. The zoo is home to an exciting selection of species, including penguins, tigers, gibbons, marmosets, nyala, and tortoises. The centre also has a butterfly house and a Gruffalo-themed centre for little ones.
