Everything you need, right on your doorstep
For your day to day amenities and Newport high street less than a mile away, pretty much everything you need is close to hand. There are a variety of independent businesses, as well as well-known brands such as Costa Coffee, Boots, and HSBC bank.
Getting your big food shop in won’t be a problem either. There’s an ALDI, Waitrose, and M&S Simply Food, plus an indoor market. If you need to stop for refreshments after shopping, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants.
Fitness fans are in for a treat too. There are sports clubs in the area for football, rugby union and cricket. And of course, there’s the world-class Lilleshall Sports Centre down the road. You’ll also find other gyms, fitness centres and exercise classes to choose from in the town too.
Outstanding schools for all ages
The Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' Newport Infant School and Moorfield Primary School and Ofsted-rate ‘Good’ Church Aston Infants School and Newport C of E Junior School, are great options and all less than a mile from your new home.
If you have older girls, the ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted-rated Newport Girls High School Academy is definitely one to look around, again less than a mile from home. Also Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding', is Haberdashers’ Adams’ Grammar School is for boys aged 11–18 and girls aged 16–18. If private education is an option, you’ll find the Castle House School just the other side of town.
Join the A518 and after 10 miles you’ll be at junction 4 of the M54, giving you simple access to the motorway network. The A518 will also quickly connect you to Telford and Stafford too. Thinking of jumping on the train? Shifnal Train Station is 8 miles away or a 16-minute drive, with services to Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury.
Beautiful surroundings waiting to be discovered
We all need to switch off and unwind sometimes, and a great way to do that is by getting closer to nature. The good news is, you’re not far from Aqualate Mere National Nature Reserve. The wetland is home to all sorts of birds, fish and mammals. Perfect for a Sunday stroll.
Travel 15 miles to the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, and you’ll be transported back in time to the industrial revolution. If history is your thing, a 15-minute drive down the A41 and you’ll land at the Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford. For those of you that prefer furry friends, head to Rodbaston Animal Zone. You’ll find around 750 animals, including monkeys, meerkats and alpacas.
