Central Shropshire is taken up by the Shropshire Hills National Landscape, a national reserve spanning 802 square kilometres. 

Transport in Shropshire

There are 19 train stations in Shropshire, located along the Shrewsbury to Chester line, the Welsh Marches line, and the Birmingham to Shrewsbury line. Rural areas are served by Shropshire’s Connect on Demand bus, a timetable-free service bookable by phone. Additionally, the Shrewsbury bus station operates regular services around the local rural towns and into Wales. 

Shopping in Shropshire

Shrewsbury Market is held in the Shrewsbury Market Hall, a permanent location for independent stalls selling artisan goods, fresh produce, crafted items, and more. Other markets in Shropshire include the Ludlow and Newport Markets, both of which sell a wide range of goods from butcher’s meat to linens. One of Shropshire’s main shopping centres can be found in Telford, where you can browse stores such as Game, Primark, M&S, and River Island. 

Things to do in Shropshire

Between the Shropshire Hills National Landscape and the numerous family farms and wildlife parks sprawled across the country, there are several rural-themed activities for you and your family to enjoy.  

One of the county's most popular attractions is Hoo Zoo – a 32-acre zoo situated in Telford that showcases and wide variety of animals, including owls, caracals, civets, and binturongs.  

Shropshire is also known for its many historical sites, including Whittington Castle, Moreton Corbet Castle, and the ancient Roman city at Wroxeter. Other attractions include the Shropshire Sculpture Park and the Ironbridge Valley of Invention.

Newport

Just down the A518 from Telford, Newport is located close to Stafford to the east and Wolverhampton to the southeast. Particularly ideal if you’re looking for somewhere to raise a family, the town has a great selection of schools and a tight knit local community.  

Our development in Newport is surrounded by the Shropshire countryside, with plenty of amenities just a stone’s throw away, in the neighbouring towns of Telford and Stafford. 

Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury is perhaps best known for its popular Shrewsbury Folk Festival. The town is also situated close to the Welsh border, making it a convenient place to settle if you like the idea of exploring the Welsh countryside at a moment's notice.  

Ironbridge

Ironbridge gives off a strong family friendly energy, with its many museums, monuments and other fun and educational attractions. The town is also within a short drive of the city of Wolverhampton, making it a practical place to live for those looking to work out of the city too. Telford is also only a few miles north of Ironbridge too.
