Getting to and from Atherton
With excellent connections to the rest of Greater Manchester, our new homes in Atherton are only about a 12-minute drive from an M61 access point – which gets you into Bolton in a little under 20 minutes, and Wigan and Chorley in about 25 minutes.
We’re also just 5 minutes’ drive from Atherton’s local train station, from where you can catch regular services to Manchester’s city centre – it’s about a 25-minute journey to Manchester Victoria – as well as other services to the likes of Wigan, Blackburn and Leeds.
There’s a bus stop within walking distance, on Liscard Street – about 5 minutes’ walk from our development. From here, you can catch buses to the likes of Bolton, Leigh and Manchester.
Things to do in Atherton
A lovely place to raise a family, we’re just 6 minutes' walk from a lovely play park – Central Park – as well as 6 minutes’ walk from Atherton Park, with its beautiful, well-maintained flowerbeds.
The Howe Bridge Leisure Centre is about 13 minutes’ walk away and offers a number of excellent facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool and several gym stations and outdoor pitches.
In terms of shopping, there’s a Tesco about 10 minutes’ walk away, as well as a Morrisons – 15 minutes’ walk away.
You’ll also find the Spinning Gate Shopping Centre, just 6 minutes’ drive away, which offers a good selection of shops, cafés and opticians.
There’s also Personage Retail Park in neighbouring Leigh – about 10 minutes’ drive away. Personage offers a wide selection of retailers, including Sainsbury’s, Aldi, M&S Food, TK Maxx, Pets at Home, Argos, and more.
In Leigh, you’ll also find Leigh Sports Village with its excellent football facilities and expansive athletic field. The sports village is just 10 minutes’ drive from home as well.
Popular schools in Atherton
Beefold Meadows is near a number of primary schools, including:
- St Michaels C E Primary School - 5 minutes’ walk away. The school caters for children between the ages of 4 and 11.
- Parklee Community Primary School - Parklee accepts children between 3 and 11 and is situated 14 minutes’ walk away.
- Sacred Heart R C Primary School - This Roman Catholic primary school is about 8 minutes’ drive away and accepts children from 4-11.
- Hindsford CE Primary School - is also 8 minutes’ drive away and similarly accepts children between the ages of 4 and 11.
Additionally, there's an excellent secondary school less than 10 minutes’ walk from our development – Atherton High School – which offers a diverse curriculum that includes subjects like Creative Media, Technology and Citizenship.
For anyone with toddlers, there’s the Partou Storytimes Day Nursery about 6 minutes’ walk from our development.
We’re also less than 20 minutes’ drive from The University of Bolton.
Living in Atherton
As far as selling points go for our new builds, Atherton and its stunning landscape are right up there.
There are some beautiful paths, perfect for dog walking, that lead towards the nearby Bee Fold Lane Fisheries, with the popular fisheries allowing members of the local community to apply for membership.
Atherton’s proximity to Bolton also means that several of the city’s most popular attractions are within a short drive of our development, including adventure golf at Amazonia Bolton, the Jump Xtreme Trampoline Park and, of course, Escape Nation Bolton.
