Getting to and from Deepcar
Deepcar sits just outside of Sheffield City Centre, about seven miles north-west of the city. The main way to get in and out of the city is via the Stagecoach Yorkshire bus service.
The 57 stops at the nearby Carr Road/Manchester Rd bus stop, about a minute’s walk from our Wharncliffe Park development, and gets you into the city centre within about half an hour.
From Sheffield City Centre, commuters can take advantage of the city’s many transport links, including its railway services. A number of train operators offer services from Sheffield City Centre to some of the UK’s most popular towns and cities, including a direct service to London St Pancras that takes a little over 2 hours.
Other routes include direct services to the likes of Leicester, Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds, and York, amongst others. Sheffield also offers an inner-city tram system that makes it easy to navigate the city.
Sheffield’s Supertram connects the city to the nearby Rotherham, with popular stops including the likes of Hillsborough, Parkgate, Middlewood, and Rotherham Central station.
The Leeds Bradford Airport is the airport nearest to our development. About an hour’s drive from Wharncliffe Park, a number of budget airlines operate out of Leeds Bradford, with flights to various European destinations, as well as services to the likes of Morrocco, being offered.
Things to do in Deepcar
Wharncliffe Park is situated only about a minute’s walk from the local pub, King & Miller.
For your day-to-day groceries, there’s a Nisa Local five minutes’ walk away but, if you’re after a bigger shop, there’s the Fox Valley Shopping Park a four-minute drive away. Featuring a whole host of recognisable names, including the likes of ALDI, Boots, EE, Holland & Barrett, Home Bargains, Iceland, Sports Direct, and Timpson, amongst other retailers, the Fox Valley Shopping Park is also home to several cafés, restaurants, gyms, a car wash, and an optician.
Popular schools in Deepcar
There are a number of brilliant nurseries and primary schools within walking distance of our Wharncliffe Park development, with both Royd Infant School and Deepcar St John’s C of E Junior School being a little under a 20-minute walk away.
Royd Infant School accepts children ages 3-7, offering a foundation stage for children who are 2.
Deepcar St John’s C of E caters to children aged 7-11, allowing for a natural path of progression for your little ones.
Other primary schools in the area include St Ann’s Catholic Primary School, a voluntary academy which caters to children aged 4-11, and is a five-minute drive away from our development.
In terms of secondary education, there’s Stocksbridge High School, also a five-minute drive away, which caters to children aged 11-16.
This comprehensive school benefits from an extensive suite of facilities including a sports hall, a dance studio, a drama studio, and a pair of all-weather football pitches.
Then there’s The University of Sheffield. Ranked 18th in the UK in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, the renowned university is only a 22-minute drive from our development.
Living in Deepcar
Deepcar, as one of the more rural parts of Sheffield, is known for its picturesque hiking trails. Homeowners at Wharncliffe Park will enjoy having nature reserves like Wharncliffe Wood and Bitholmes Wood in their backyard. Keen anglers can also take advantage of Deepcar’s beautiful reservoirs by getting involved with the local Tin Mill Angling Club.
If you’re a fan of live music, nearby Stocksbridge has begun a tradition of hosting an annual music festival in the summer – the cleverly named Woodstocksbridge.
Promoting itself as the “biggest little festival in the world”, this little festival has quickly established a reputation for putting together stellar lineups showcasing the best of local talent.
