Getting to and from Stanton

Situated in the historic village of Stanton, our new development offers easy access to the A143. The market town of Diss can be reached via a 21-minute drive to the east and Bury St Edmunds lies just a 20-minute drive away to the west. 

The villages of Ixworth, Thurston and Walsham le Willows, with their friendly, local schools, are all within a 15-minute drive of the development, and RAF Honington is a 13-minute drive away.

To get to London from our new builds, you can drive to Ipswich via the A14 (37 minutes) and then take a train to Liverpool Street which takes just over an hour. Regular trains from Bury St Edmunds to Cambridge take 40 minutes.

If you want to venture further afield, Stansted Airport, with its links to Europe and beyond, is only an hour’s drive from our development.

Things to do in Stanton

With the pretty village of Stanton on your doorstep, all your day-to-day requirements are just a short walk away. Stanton Surgery, for example, is an 11-minute walk, and there are other surgeries nearby such as Ixworth Surgery (an 8-minute drive) and Mount Farm Surgery in Bury St Edmunds (18 minutes away by car).

You can pick up essential groceries at Co-op, Londis or Stanton Stores – all within an 8-minute walk of our new homes – or you can head to Bury St Edmunds (a 20-minute drive) for bigger supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco, Waitrose, M&S Food, and Aldi.

Nearby, Bury St Edmunds has a number of high street brands in the town centre including Marks & Spencer, Boots and Sports Direct. There’s also the Arc Shopping Centre, which is home to retailers such as Accessorize, JD Sports, Next, Waterstones and Primark.

When it comes to keeping fit, there are miles of hiking and cycling trails nearby such as the Peddars Way or Stanton Rides, and Stanton Recreation Ground is located right next to the development, with its playing fields, tennis courts and skate park. If you prefer to head to the gym, you’ll find a David Lloyd Club in Bury St Edmunds (20-minute drive) along with a Bannatyne Health Club and The Gym Group. For swimming, Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre, a 23-minute drive from Stanton, has three pools, fitness classes, a sauna, and a steam room.

• A little further afield, Ixworth CE Primary School is a 9-minute drive away and accepts pupils between 2 and 11 years old.
• Bardwell CE Primary School is only a 6-minute drive from our new homes and provides a warm and welcoming environment for children aged 4-11.
• A 9-minute drive away, Walsham le Willows CEVC Primary School offers a small, caring community for pupils aged between 4 and 11 years old.
• For secondary provision, Thurston Community College accepts students aged between 11 and 18. There is a free local bus service provided by Suffolk County Council, or alternatively the journey by car from our development takes 15 minutes.
• Ixworth High School is another secondary option offering a friendly environment for children aged 11 to 16. The school is just 8 minutes’ drive away.
• Sybil Andrews Academy has modern, purpose-built facilities for pupils aged 11 to 16. The school is a 21-minute drive from the development.
• One of the oldest schools in the UK, Thetford Grammar is an independent school offering provision for children aged 3 to 19. This selective school is a 22-minute drive away.
• 24 minutes in the car, Culford Prep School is another independent option for 7- to 13-year-olds, housed in an impressive 18^th century mansion with 480 acres of parkland.

There’s plenty to do in the historic village of Stanton. As well as miles of beautiful country walks on your doorstep, village life here brings a strong sense of community thanks to the village hall, post office and recreation ground.

Sports clubs in the village include Stanton Community Football Club, with its strong junior section, and Stanton Bowls Club, which welcomes new members. Both are a within a few minutes’ walk of our development

For family outings, Thetford Forest is a 37-minute drive away. Explore the 47,000 acres of woodland by bike or head to Go Ape for a treetop rope adventure or a segway tour.

National Trust property Ickworth Estate (a 31-minute drive away) is also well worth a visit for its beautiful Italianate palace and extensive grounds. Bressingham Steam & Gardens, a 24-minute drive away, has steam train rides, a museum and gardens to explore.

For a day out to the coast, the popular seaside towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh are just over an hour’s drive away to the east.
