The town itself boasts a wonderful selection of cafes, tearooms, bistros, restaurants and pubs, many with pretty gardens and terraces offering views over the stunning Exe Estuary. Seafood, as you would expect, is a speciality in this region so a trip to The Salutation Inn and the Galley are a must. The Fish Shed at nearby Darts Farm is also worth a visit as it is widely thought to be one of the best Fish and Chip shops and wet fishmonger’s in the country. There are plenty of other local delicacies on offer at the Saturday morning market in Matthews Hall too; from regional cheeses, locally reared meat, wine, ale and cider produced in the area.
Cycle or walk along the Exe Estuary Trail to enjoy stunning views of the estuary and its abundance of wildlife or, take a relaxing 15 minute trip aboard the Topsham Ferry to The Turf. This historic lock-keeper’s inn is situated in a protected area of outstanding natural beauty and is one of the few pubs in the country not accessible by road.
Exeter is a great place to live, learn and discover. For families moving to Seabrook Orchards there's plenty of choice when it comes to education. Within minutes walking distance from our new homes, is Trinity C of E Primary and Nursery School. The Topsham School, Lady Seaward's Church of England Primary School and Countess Wear Community School all cater for children up to 11 years of age. For older children, St Peter’s Church of England Aided School is a popular choice for many families in the area and for A-levels, many students move on to Exeter College. There are a number of private schools locally, including The Exeter School and Exeter Cathedral School and, less than five miles away you’ll find Exeter University which is consistently ranked high in the best universities in the country.
