Transport in Northamptonshire 

There are 6 train stations in Northamptonshire, with all 6 stations offering regular services to London.  

The county’s biggest train station can be found in its county town – Northampton.  

Serving as the main transport hub for Northamptonshire, Northampton Railway Station has 5 platforms and offers regular services from Northampton to Birmingham New Street and London Euston, stopping at Wolverton, Milton Keynes, and Rugby along the way.  

Northampton is also home to one of the county’s most prominent bus stations – which can be found at North Gate. From North Gate, you can catch buses to the likes of Duston, Daventry and Brackley.  

Shopping in Northamptonshire

As Northamptonshire’s County town, Northampton also serves as the county’s chief retail district, with the main shopping centre in Northampton being Grosvenor.  

Outlets on offer at Grosvenor include the likes of Primark, H&M, River Island, and HMV.  

There are also several farmers markets and independent retailers selling artisan goods to be found in other parts of the county, including in towns like Rushden and Towcester. 

Things to do in Northamptonshire

With its rural landscape, Northamptonshire is known for its natural beauty and its wide array of nature reserves and parks. These include the Stanwick Lakes in the market town of Wellingborough and the Fermyn Woods Country Park in Kettering.  

The county also offers its fair share of family fun too, with the amusement park - - Wicksteed Park in Kettering - being a particular highlight.  

The county’s many family-friendly farms, and their petting zoos, also provide several opportunities for children to engage with adorable farmyard creatures, with the Mini Meadows Children’s Farm in Northampton being particularly popular.
