Getting to and from Wellington
Strong transport links are just one of the benefits of living in Wellington.
The A38 runs along the south-east of the town, providing a direct route into Taunton and Tiverton, while also offering easy access to the M5. From here, residents can travel south towards Exeter or north to Bristol, Gloucestershire and the West Midlands.
For rail travel, both Taunton and Tiverton Parkway train stations are around a 20-minute drive away from our new builds in Wellington and offer parking facilities. Regular services run to Exeter St Davids in approximately 15 minutes, Bristol Temple Meads in up to 45 minutes and London Paddington in under two hours.
Public transport is also easily accessible from our new build homes with two bus stops located close to our Wellington development. One provides frequent services into Taunton town centre, while the other, served by Falcon and Megabus routes, offers services to destinations further out, like Plymouth and Bristol.
For air travel, Exeter Airport offers a number of domestic flights and is just 30 minutes away by car, while, for international air travel, one can drive to Bristol Airport, which is only about an hour away.
Things to do in Wellington
Those living in our new homes in Wellington will benefit from a wide range of everyday amenities close to home. A Lidl supermarket is located just outside of the development, providing convenient access to groceries, while larger supermarkets and additional retail options can be found in the town centre, just a few minutes’ drive away.
For leisure and fitness, there are plenty of options nearby. Spartan Chamber, at Chelston Business Park, and Anytime Fitness are both within 5 minutes’ drive of our development, with Wellington also home to a variety of local sports clubs, including rugby, football, netball, and bowling, alongside a public library. The town also boasts two churches as well as several parks and gardens with children’s play areas.
The Skylark pub is also around the corner, about five minutes’ drive away.
We’re also only 5 minutes’ drive from the Wellington Community Hospital providing local medical services that are just five minutes away by car. The larger Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton is approximately 15 minutes’ drive from our Lillebonne Place development, while GP services can be accessed at Wellington Medical Centre, less than 10 minutes from our development.

Our new build homes in Wellington are within the catchment area of a number of primary schools. These include:
• Isambard Kingdon Brunel Primary – Welcoming children aged 2-11, this school offers full early years and primary education within a nurturing environment. Located in Wellington, this local school is within walking distance of our new homes.
• St John’s CofE Primary – For children aged 5-11, this school provides a curriculum rooted in a Church of England ethos, with a focus on both academic development and spiritual wellbeing. This is another nearby school, only 5 minutes’ drive from our Lillebonne Place development.
• Beech Grove Primary – Less than 10 minutes’ drive from our new homes, this primary school offers an inclusive environment and strong sense of community. Here, children aged 4-11 can grow to be socially confident, responsible, creative, and ambitious.
• Rockwell Green CofE Primary – Located in nearby Rockwell Green, just 10 minutes’ drive from our new builds in Wellington, this CofE school encourages children aged 4-11 to flourish and achieve their full potential through academic teaching, creativity and Christian ethos.
• West Buckland Primary – Well-regarded for its supportive environment and community feel, this village primary school offers a friendly setting in which children aged 4-11 can grow and learn. A convenient option for families in our Wellington homes, this school is less than 10 minutes away.
• Sampford Arundel Primary – This small village school is around 10 minutes’ drive from our Lillebonne Place development and offers an interactive, community-focused education for children aged 4-11.
• Langford Budville CofE Primary – Located only 10-minutes’ drive from our new homes in Wellington, the rural Landford Budville village school serves early years and primary ages 2-11, offering a warm, supportive learning environment rooted in Christian values.
Wellington also provides a couple of well-regarded secondary school options for students to continue their education locally:
• Court Fields School – Court Fields offers places to students aged 11-6, providing a broad academic and enrichment programme that includes sports and music. This local secondary academy is around 5 minutes’ drive from our new homes, on the other side of Wellington.
• Wellington Private School – An independent day and boarding school for students aged 11-18, located in the heart of the town. This school provides a broad curriculum that includes a number of arts and sports subjects alongside the standard academic fare.
Living in Wellington
Known for its beautiful walking routes, the Blackdown Hills are wonderful to explore, and the nearby Wellington Basic provides a peaceful setting for waterside walks and wildlife spotting.
Wellington also showcases its creative side at the Old Brick Workshop and gallery, which hosts exhibitions throughout the year.
For everyday shopping, Wellington town centre features a mix of independent stores, alongside charity shops and familiar high-street names. Blackdown Garden Centre on the edge of town is also a popular spot for purchasing plants, gifts and enjoying a refreshment in the café. For further retail options, nearby Taunton is home to the County Walk and Orchard shopping centres.
Families have plenty of leisure options close by, with activities such as Flip Out trampoline park in Wellington, as well as Space Adventures soft play in Taunton, just 15 minutes away. Outdoor swimming is also available during the warmer months at the Wivey Pool.
A traditional Somerset experience can be enjoyed at Sheppy’s Cider Farm & Museum (less than 10 minutes away), while Bishops Lydeard Steam Railway Station (20 minutes away) offers the opportunity to ride heritage trains.
