Where is Crewe? 

Crewe is a large town located in the Cheshire hills.  

The town is about 30 minutes’ drive northwest of Stoke-on-Trent and an hour’s drive south of Manchester and Liverpool. 

The town is also an hour away from the city of Birmingham, with the M6 connecting the two together. 

Transport in Crewe 

Crewe has a sizeable train station, with the station having 12 platforms. Crewe's station serves as an interchange across several lines, including the Crewe-Manchester line and the West Coast Main Line between the North West and the south. 

Shopping in Crewe

Crewe’s largest shopping mall is The Market Centre, located in the town centre between West Street and Vernon Way. There, you will find shops such as Clarks, Superdrug, and Warren James. There are also a number of retail outlets to be found at the Grand Junction Retail Park, where there's the likes of Boots, Marks and Spencer, Hobbycraft, and Next. 

Things to do in Crewe 

Crewe’s history as a town is deeply tied to its train station, with the town being put on the map by being a transport hub for many of the neighbouring areas. Indeed, it is said that before its famous train station was built, the town only had a population of 70 people.  

With that in mind, it is understandable that many of the area’s most notable attractions are built around the railway sector.  

Crewe has a variety of train-themed museums and displays such as the Crewe Heritage Centre and the miniature Peacock Railway. 

However, the town also has an ODEON cinema that can be found in the town centre, and, for those with little ones, Lakemore Farm Park also comes highly recommended.

Wistaston 

Wistaston is a quiet suburb on the western edge of Crewe, cut through by the A530 to Nantwich. This neighbourhood is perfect for commuters and urban dwellers looking for a peaceful home life free of the hustle and bustle of busier suburbs. Its location between Crewe and Nantwich gives commuters a choice between Crewe station and the quieter Nantwich station, as well as direct access to the Nantwich and Shavington bypasses. 

Congleton 

Located a short drive north of Stoke-on-Trent and east of Crewe, the town of Congleton has its own train station providing easy access to both. A town with more laid-back sort of energy, Congleton tends to be particularly popular amongst retirees - its beautiful countryside views undoubtedly adding to its relaxing, less hectic feel, especially when compared to some of the busier suburbs that surround it. 

Haslington 

A semi-rural suburb of Crewe, Haslington is situated near the A534, with it taking about 8 minutes to drive from Haslington to Crewe’s railway station.  

There are several walking routes and nature reserves, around Haslington, to enjoy and the town is also home to a number of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings – 12 of which are recorded in the National Heritage List for England.
