Where is Loughborough? 

Loughborough is about 10 miles away from Leicester and just over 12 miles away from Nottingham. It sits just south of Derby, and falls close to the county border between Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and Derbyshire.  

Towns near Loughborough include the likes of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, East Leake and Melton Mowbray.  

Transport in Loughborough 

It takes a little over 20 minutes to get from Loughborough to Leicester by car, and about 12 minutes to get there by train. 

There are also a number of train services that connect Loughborough to the likes of Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby. 

The town is connected to London, about 2 hours’ drive away, by the M1. You'll find an M1 access point by the roundabout that's situated along Ashby Road. 

Shopping in Loughborough 

Loughborough’s main shopping centre is The Rushes, an outdoor mall with over 20 shops to choose from. These include popular outlets such as Next, JD Sports, Marks & Spencer, and TK Maxx, as well as restaurants like Subway and Muffin Break. 

There are also the Loughborough Retail Markets which take place twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays, and showcase everything from various independent clothing retailers to handcrafted artisan goods.  

Things to do in Loughborough 

A historical town, Loughborough isn’t short of museums and heritage sites, including The Old Rectory and the Charnwood museums. Both of which showcase the works of local artists as well archaeological findings of historical significance.  

If you’re a train enthusiast, the Grand Central Railway offers locals the opportunity to experience a journey on a steam train, giving them a taste of a different time.
