Bloor Homes 2024 Garden Competition – Terms and Conditions

It’s the competition you’ve all been waiting for... our annual Battle of the Gardens competition is back with 3 fantastic prizes up for grabs - and this year, it has a very exciting twist!

Following our recent partnership with RHS judge and international garden designer, Paul Hervey-Brookes, in which we worked with Paul on a garden transformation series for Bloor homeowners to put into practice in their own Bloor garden, we're delighted to share that Paul accepted our invitation to bring his RHS judging expertise to our annual gardening competition this year!

Our garden transformation series saw 3 x showhome gardens come to life across 3 themes and these themes are the 3 x competition categories you can enter your Bloor garden into for a chance to win 1 of 3 prizes up for grabs.

As 1 of the 3 competition winners, you will receive a 1 x £150 National Gardening Gift Voucher PLUS a special terracotta plant pot trophy to display in your Bloor garden!

Choose a category to enter – or enter all 3!

1) #BloorWildlifeWelcomeGarden – a category for Bloor gardens designed to attract wildlife and bio-diversity. Your garden may include pollinators, bird boxes, bug hotels, fruit trees or perhaps a hedgehog highway!

2) #BloorLetMeEntertainYouGarden – a category for Bloor gardens designed for hosting get togethers with family and friends. Your garden may include a BBQ area, outdoor bar, play area or perhaps an outdoor movie theatre!

3) #BloorFlowersAndMoreGarden – a category for homeowners who’ve gone the extra mile with plants in their Bloor garden! Your garden may include a selection of unusual plants, a creative way of potting, framing or displaying your blooms, or perhaps something special we haven’t seen before!

Then here’s how to enter the competition:

All you need to do is post an IMAGE to showcase the best of your Bloor garden on Instagram using the hashtag for the competition category you’d like to enter - #BloorWildlifeWelcomeGarden or #BloorLetMeEntertainYouGarden or #BloorFlowersAndMoreGarden

You can enter multiple categories – simply add all the competition category hashtags to your post caption on Instagram.

The IMAGE you share of your garden must be published on Instagram between 1^st January – 31^st August 2024 to enter.

You can enter as many times as you wish.

The competition will run throughout August – September 2024.

What to expect once the entry period closes:

The shortlist
At the beginning of September, we will showcase the best 15 Bloor gardens we have shortlisted for our competition.
The judge’s pick
Paul Hervey-Brookes will use his RHS judge expertise to select his 3 favourite gardens from each category.
Your finalists

The 3 finalists from each category will be put forward to a community vote on Instagram and Facebook. There will be 3 voting posts, one for each category. The vote will run for 1-week only. The garden with the most votes across Instagram and Facebook in each category will win!

This competition is open to UK Bloor Homes residents only and you must be 18 years or older to enter.
The competition is closed to employees of Bloor Homes and their close relatives, and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation.
Automated or bulk entries / votes from third parties or individuals will be disqualified.
Homeowners can enter multiple times with different images of their Bloor garden.
The entry must contain either one or multiple of the following hashtags #BloorWildlifeWelcomeGarden or #BloorLetMeEntertainYouGarden or #BloorFlowersAndMoreGarden in the post caption and must have been posted during 2024.
Homeowners can enter the competition on Instagram only.
Homeowners must share a static IMAGE of their Bloor garden to enter the competition, not a reel.
The image you enter into the competition must be published on Instagram between 1st Jan – 31st Aug 2024.
The competition entry period will run from 12th August 2024 and end on 31st August 2024 at midnight.
The ‘shortlist’ will be announced on Instagram and Facebook w/c 2^nd September 2024.
The ‘judge’s pick’ will be shared on Instagram and Facebook w/c 9^th September 2024 – these will form the 3 finalists of each category.
The ‘finalists’ will be put forward to a community vote w/c 9^th September 2024 which will comprise of 3 x voting posts on Instagram and Facebook. The voting period is 1-week.
The winners will be announced on Instagram and Facebook during w/c 16^th September 2024.
The entries will be short listed by category and the winners will be selected by a community vote on Instagram and Facebook.
The voting posts on Instagram will be a carousel post with 3 images, users must detail the slide number of their favourite Bloor garden to vote.
The voting post on Facebook will be a multiple image post with the homeowner’s Instagram handle listed – users must ‘react’ to their favourite images to vote.
The winner of each category will be determined by which finalist has the most votes across Instagram and Facebook.
The winners will be informed of their win by direct message via @BloorHomes on Instagram and will be asked to provide contact details for their prize – including name, email address and postal address. The winner might also be contacted by the Bloor Homes PR team.
By entering the competition, you are giving Bloor Homes permission to use your images across their social media and off-line marketing materials.
‘The shortlist’ for each category will be chosen by Bloor Homes Marketing Dept based on merits within each category. Shortlisted images cannot be changed and the images shortlisted are final.
The ‘Judge’s Pick’ will be chosen by international garden designer and RHS judge, Paul Hervey-Brookes. The images announced in the ‘Judge’s Pick’ cannot be changed and the images announced are final.
The winners of each competition category will be chosen by a community vote on Instagram and Facebook. The winner of each category will be the homeowner whose image received the most combined votes across Instagram and Facebook.
There are 3 prizes up for grabs and these consist of 1 x £150 National Gardening Gift Voucher PLUS a special terracotta plant pot trophy.
The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for any cash alternatives in whole or in part.
The competition is in partnership with Bloor Homes and international garden designer and RHS judge, Paul Hervey-Brookes.
