New homes at Bideford are future proofed says Bloor Homes
Bloor Homes’ new development at Bideford will bring £12 million in Section 106 payments
Bloor Homes’ new development at Bideford will bring £12 million in Section 106 payments to be used for local infrastructure, healthcare and education, alongside 82 new homes with energy saving and sustainability benefits, including 25 brand new affordable homes to help with the housing shortage in the area.
Planning permission was granted by Bideford Council following 10 months of Bloor Homes working closely with them under a Planning Performance Agreement - a constructive framework whereby developers and local authorities work collaboratively to take a development proposal through the planning process, ensuring a developers’ plans align with the local authority’s objectives.
The result is that Bloor Homes will be building the new homes in Bideford to the very latest building regulations, which prioritise sustainability and energy efficiency as the country continues to transition to a Net Zero by 2050.
Sara Parker, Sales Director for Bloor Homes’ Exeter region, said: “Anyone looking for greater efficiencies and a lower carbon footprint can count on our new homes, especially when compared to older, second-hand properties could require tens of thousands of pounds of investment to be brought to the same standards*.”
Sara adds: “We are also helping to future-proof the new homes by fitting radiator systems that are compatible with air sourced heat pumps. While they will initially be run from gas boilers, those too meet the latest building regulations with a 55-degree temperature limit. Overall, it means residents start saving on bills as soon as they move in and can choose when to switch to air sourced heat pumps, knowing that the internal heating system would be compatible with an alternative heat source.”
Adherence to the regulations also means new homeowners at Bideford will benefit from:
- a 31% uplift in the reduction of CO2 emissions compare to second hand homes
- PV solar panels fitted as standard to all the new homes
- EV charging points fitted to all the new homes
- Waste water heat recovery systems
- Low energy LED lighting
- Greater thermal efficiencies from the build materials
Bloor Homes will have a sales presence on site at Bideford in the Autumn and will be welcoming people to come and find out more about the new homes so they can make fully informed decisions about their next move.
