Getting to and from Southbourne
Priors Meadow is about a 22-minute drive from Chichester and Portsmouth by car and 30 minutes from the towns of Bognor Regis and West Wittering. Chichester, with Southampton also about half an hour away.
Our development is only 5 minutes’ walk from Southbourne’s train station, with routes offered including services to Portsmouth and Brighton.
In terms of local bus services, both the 700 Coastliner and the 56 serve Southbourne, operating regular services between Southbourne and the likes of Portsmouth, Chichester and Havant, with the Coastliner also offering services to Brighton.
As a coastal town, water sports form a big part of the town’s leisurely scene. Indeed, there are several sailing clubs in the area, with many attached to active marinas along the coast.
The closest clubs to our Prior Meadows development are Thorney Island, Emsworth, and Bosham, while more are available around Portsmouth and Chichester.
There are also several seaside hiking trails available to you, with the Oyster Trail, Conigar Point, and the Chichester Harbour Coastal Walk all within 3 miles of Priors Meadow.
There’s also a weekly parkrun you can attend, just 4 miles away, at Staunton Country Park.
We’re just 11 minutes’ walk away from the Bourne Leisure Centre and only 15 minutes’ drive from Horizon Leisure Centre, in neighbouring Havant, which offers a swimming pool.
For families with young children, there’s the Southbourne Recreation Ground, a 13-minute walk from our development, which offers a lovely play area with several slides and swings.
We’re situated just a 5-minute walk from a Tesco Express and nearby Havant is home to a Tesco Superstore as well as a Sainsbury’s and a Morrisons.
Priors Meadow is ideally located, being just 4 minutes’ walk from a children’s nursery - Loveders Nursery School.
Aside from that, there are also a number of primary schools within easy reach of our development, which include:
• Southbourne Junior School – which caters to children ages 5-11, and has an infant school attached to it. The school is just a 10-minute walk from our development.
• Chidham Parochial – a 4-minute drive away, which accepts children ages 4-11
• Westbourne - a 6-minute drive away, which also caters to children ages 4-11
In terms of local secondary schools and higher education institutions, there’s:
• Bourne Community College – a 10-minute walk away, that caters to children 11-16.
• Chichester College – a 13-minute drive away, and not only offers T-Levels but also apprenticeships and various university courses.
• Glenwood – a school that look to support children, ages 11-16, with special educational needs and disabilities. The school is just a 7-minute drive from our development
Watersports hobbyists will find plenty of things to do in Southbourne, while surrounding RSPB reserves and national parks makes it an excellent location for nature enthusiasts.
Fishing charters are available to hire from nearby Hayling Island or Havant, which you can use to angle in the English Channel. You can also rent watersports equipment from shops such as Hayling Watersports and Red FIN, or take paddleboarding, kayaking, and waterskiing lessons from various professionals along the coast.
Inland, Southbourne is close to RSPB Medmerry and Pagham Harbour, which offers you the opportunity to spot a wealth of waterbirds such as wigeons, terns, and black-headed gulls.
You’ll also have easy access to the Chichester Harbour National Landscape and the South Downs National Park, both of which are less than 20 minutes away from our development by car.
