Transport
Beefold Meadows is perfected located for easy access to Manchester and Wigan. It’s the ideal location for commuters and those who like to explore the local towns and cities. If you prefer to travel by rail Atherton Station is just over a mile from Beefold Meadows, with regular trains to Manchester Victoria and Wigan Wallgate. When it’s time for International travel, Manchester Airport and Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport are similar distances away.
Local shops
Your retail needs are easily catered for, everyday conveniences can be found in Atherton Town centre, and for your weekly shop a Tesco Superstore and Asda can be found. Ena Mill retail is just a short walk away located in a beautiful mill with 200 brands and 45,000 square feet! For high street names and designer shops, head over to Wigan or Manchester
Education
Families moving to Beefold Meadows will find several primary schools within the area that have been rated “Excellent” by Ofsted, St Michael’s C of E Primary School, Hindsford C of E Primary and St Richard’s Catholic School.
Finding the very best education for your budding teenager is easy. Just around the corner from Beefold Meadows is Atherton High school. A little further afield are Fred Longworth High School, Bedford High School & St Mary’s Catholic High School which have been rated “Good” at the lasted Ofsted inspection.
Places to visit
If you fancy a family walk to a nice and peaceful location you should choose Lilford Park a fantastic place for a picnic and the children will love the play area. The 7.2km woodland trail takes you from the edge of Leigh through Lilford Woods, over Atherton Lake Brook, along Bee Fold Lane past the fishery, and back along Langley Platt Lane.
Leisure
On those rainy days, its easy to keep the little ones (and teenagers) entertained, Atherton has its own rollerskating rink, Escape rooms, airsoft and indoor shooting range and Howe Bridge Leisure centre (one of the best in the North West) has swimming facilities, skate park, climbing walls and indoor adventure play area!
Cities and towns
Atherton itself is a quaint town with a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, Wigan is the closest large town offering a vibrant mixture of fantastic amenities including great shopping facilities, a vast array of pubs, clubs and restaurants. The city of Manchester is just 10 miles away, with so many attractions it’s hard to work out what to visit first!
