The 7.2km woodland trail takes you from the edge of Leigh through Lilford Woods, over Atherton Lake Brook, along Bee Fold Lane past the fishery, and back along Langley Platt Lane.

On those rainy days, its easy to keep the little ones (and teenagers) entertained, Atherton has its own rollerskating rink, Escape rooms, airsoft and indoor shooting range and Howe Bridge Leisure centre (one of the best in the North West) has swimming facilities, skate park, climbing walls and indoor adventure play area!

Cities and towns
Atherton itself is a quaint town with a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, Wigan is the closest large town offering a vibrant mixture of fantastic amenities including great shopping facilities, a vast array of pubs, clubs and restaurants. The city of Manchester is just 10 miles away, with so many attractions it’s hard to work out what to visit first!
