Transport in Exeter
There are nine total train stations across Exeter city, including three core stations and six suburban stops. The main stations are Exeter Central, Exeter St Thomas, and Exeter St Davids, with the latter home to six platforms where you can catch trains to the likes of London Waterloo, Plymouth, Exmouth, and Paignton, as well as hop onto cross-country services heading towards Manchester Piccadilly and Edinburgh. There is also the Exeter Bus and Coach Station in the city centre, offering regular buses throughout the city and its suburbs.
Shopping in Exeter
There are two major shopping centres in central Exeter: The Guildhall Shopping Centre and Princesshay. You can find accessory and jewellery shops like Guildhall Leather and H.Samuel, alongside independent retailers at The Guildhall, while Princesshay is a hub for high-street fashion brands such as River Island, MOSS, Next and New Look. Exeter also holds six independent markets throughout the year, held on the Cathedral Green.
Things to do in Exeter
Exeter’s crowning jewel is its Rougemont Gardens, a Grade II listed site on the grounds of Exeter Castle. The gardens are free to enter and are open throughout the year. You can also visit Athelstan's Tower, the highest point in Exeter, or go on a subterranean tour of the city’s underground passageways. As for social activities, Red House Mysteries operates three themed escape rooms in the city centre, but you can also go bowling at Tenpin Exeter, sit down for a board game at the Board cafe and restaurant, or play crazy golf and darts at the Boom Battle Bar.

Topsham
Located by the mouth of the River Exe, Topsham is the perfect location for those looking to live by the water, with its excellent transport links only adding to its appeal. Topsham Station sees two trains an hour to Exeter and Paignton, located just a few stops away from Exeter Central. We have several new homes in this Exeter seaside location, at our aptly named Seabrook Orchard development. They’re definitely worth exploring if you’d enjoy living by the coast.
Cullompton
Located in Devonshire’s Culm Valley, Cullompton is a peaceful countryside town just over 10 miles down the M5 from Exeter. Cullompton is the perfect place if you enjoy a quieter lifestyle, with the countryside location still being within commuting distance of the city. Indeed, we have a development in Cullompton – the popular Meadows development. A quainter town removed from Devon’s many tourists, Cullompton’s residents enjoy several scout halls, a community centre, and a library, as well as plenty of activities and social clubs around town.
Pinhoe
Pinhoe is a popular suburb of Exeter, with its own train station and direct access to the M5. The town is situated by the northeastern corner of the city, close to the Exeter Arena and a 15-minute drive away from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Ideal for those who want to live near the city but not quite in the city, Pinhoe is a nice best-of-both-worlds town. We have several new homes available to buy in this suburb if you’re interested.
