Nina Wilson is buzzing after winning our Design a Bedroom competition!

We were delighted to invite Nina Wilson to the official unveiling of the winning bedroom she designed in one of our Showhomes.

Nine-year-old Pitmaston Primary School student Nina’s winning design was inspired by the award-winning The Hive library in Worcester, which resembles a beehive with its distinctive golden honeycomb cladding. Nina’s design brought together her love of books and bees to create a very cosy and unique bedroom.

Sally Holt, Regional Senior Sales Manager, said: “We absolutely loved Nina’s design; the connection to The Hive library, which is a real landmark in the city, is outstanding.

“The library was named The Hive to represent the purposeful activity which goes on inside and the sense of community it helps to create, and this really struck a chord with us. As a housebuilder we are not just building new houses, but homes and new communities for people to live in and enjoy for years to come.”

Nina’s design has been brought to life by one of our interior design partners, Claude Hooper and can be seen in The Brooke showhome at The Grove at Worcester.

A yellow and hessian colour scheme provides the backdrop, with beautiful bees hand-painted on the walls. A custom-made headboard and bedside table feature open hardback books and are a subtle nod to the library.

Soft furnishings and accessories, including bumblebee print cushions, hexagonal wooden shelving arranged in the shape of a honeycomb and a hive-shaped lamp add the finishing touches to the room and create a warm and inviting space.

Sally continues: “We had almost 100 entries for the Design a Bedroom competition from pupils in years two to six at Pitmaston Primary School and we were extremely impressed by the standard.  Choosing our winner was certainly a tough job. We hope Nina enjoyed exploring the bedroom she designed.”

Nina said: “It was really exciting to visit the showhome and see how my bedroom looks. I love it and wish it was my own bedroom back at home.”
