A Thatcham-based community football club is celebrating after securing sponsorship from a local housebuilder.

Bloor Homes, which is currently building the Thatcham Place development on Tull Way, has donated £605 to Cold Ash Boys and Girls FC to enable the club to purchase a professional piece of speedshot equipment.

As well as being used to improve the players’ ball-striking techniques, the equipment will support the club’s ongoing fundraising activities.

Simon Lamb, Club Secretary at Cold Ash Football Club, said: “We are delighted to have secured sponsorship from Bloor Homes. With their support, we have been able to purchase speedshot equipment which we can use not only to develop the skills of our players, but also in our fundraising activities for the club and other local charitable causes throughout the year.
“As a community-based football club we are committed to making football accessible for all. Members across all our age groups take part in fundraising activities throughout the year to help with the purchase of new equipment and to enable us to keep memberships fees at an affordable level.

“We have already committed to attending the Chieveley Fete in 2019 and will also be looking to use the equipment at the Thatcham Annual Fun Day, held at Henwick Worthy. Outside of our planned programme of events, we will use the speedshot equipment to improve the ball striking technique of our players across all age groups, from under 7s to under 13s.”
Luke Southgate, Regional Sales Director at Bloor Homes Southern, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Cold Ash FC, who play such an important part in providing grassroots football for the community.

“As a considerate and socially responsible housebuilder, we are always keen to support the local communities in which we build. We look forward to seeing the equipment in action at the club, as well as at the many local events the team at Cold Ash FC will be attending in 2019.”
