Etwall village set to sparkle after Bloor Homes' donation

Etwall is all set for a spectacular Christmas lights display in 2018, thanks to a sponsorship from Bloor Homes, whose Alms Meadow development is in the village.

Bloor Homes, whose Alms Meadow development is located on Willington Road, has donated £500 towards the cost of illuminating the large tree on the village green for next year’s festive season.

The display is being organised by Etwall Parish Council, which has set aside £1,000 of its own funds towards the project.

Funding has also been pledged from the organisers of Etwall Well Dressing Festival, who have made the project a beneficiary of next year’s event, while a private donor in the village has agreed to provide the rest of the money.

The parish council estimates that the cost of purchasing and installing the lights, including the hire of a cherry picker, will come to between £3,000 and £4,000.

Councillor David Neal, Chairman of Etwall Parish Council, said: “I am pleased to accept this generous donation from Bloor Homes. The council was approached by a number of residents to consider Christmas lights in the village and we have received a lot of subsequent support. I am sure we can provide a spectacular display for Christmas 2018.”

Michele Rose, Regional Sales Director at Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Etwall Parish Council’s project to provide festive lighting for the village in 2018. I am sure it will be a spectacular display which will bring some festive cheer to the whole community.”
