Bloor Homes donates £250 worth of supplies to Warwick Foodbank

Bloor Homes Midlands region has donated a food collection worth £250 to Warwick District Foodbank, located just 2.5 miles from the housebuilder’s new The Asps development in the town of Warwick.

Run in partnership with Trussell, a registered charity tackling UK hunger, Warwick District Foodbank provides three days’ worth of food to local people that are referred to them for emergency support. In the past year, 9,161 local people have accessed emergency food packages through the organisation.

According to Trussell, 1 in 5 people in the UK live below the poverty line, which is why community fundraising and donations from businesses such as Bloor Homes are vital to enable the important work of local foodbanks to continue.

Andy Bower, Operations Manager at Warwick District Foodbank, said "We urge anyone that can spare a donation to support us this Christmas, as it will make a huge difference to those in the Warwick district community that need our help, especially at this time of year.

"We would like to thank Bloor Homes for this kind and generous donation, as financial contributions from local businesses can provide a huge boost to our operations and help us to distribute the food we receive to as many people as possible who are referred to us".

The developer offered the foodbank the donation of supplies in the spirit of festive giving, though it upholds a year-round commitment to supporting the communities it builds within, having previously introduced the Bloor Homes Community Sport Fund in Warwick. Within this project, Bloor Homes’ Midlands region invited local sports clubs to apply for four £250 donations, and awarded the organisations it felt were most deserving of the funding for upcoming plans and continued community enrichment.

The community effort behind Warwick District Foodbank inspired Angie Prince, Sales Director for Bloor Homes’ Midlands region, when she heard that over 90% of the food distributed by the foodbanks in the Trussel networks are donated by the public.

Angie said: “It is heart-warming to know of the collective commitment the Warwick community has to supporting the hungry in the local area, and we are proud to add our donation to the pile of emergency supplies at Warwick District Foodbank. At Bloor Homes, we are committed to helping local communities tackle the issues the local area faces, and we are always looking for ways to collaborate with the organisations that take on such vital responsibilities.

“We hope our food donation will aid the foodbank in its continued mission and inspire others to give to the organisation this Christmas.”
