Bloor Homes donates £250 worth of supplies to Rugby Foodbank
Bloor Homes Midlands region has donated a food collection to Rugby Foodbank, a charity located just 1.9 miles from the housebuilder’s new Eden Park development in the town of Rugby.
Run by the Trussel Trust, a national charity tackling UK hunger, Rugby Foodbank provides three days’ worth of food to local people that are referred to them for emergency support. In the past year, 6,717 local people have accessed emergency food packages through the organisation that has been providing support since 2012.
According to the Trust, 1 in 5 people in the UK live below the poverty line, which is why community fundraising and donations from businesses such as Bloor Homes are vital to enable the important work of local foodbanks to continue.
The developer offered the foodbank the donation of supplies in the spirit of festive giving, though it upholds a year-round commitment to supporting the communities it builds within, having previously introduced the Bloor Homes Community Sport Fund in Warwick. Within this project, Bloor Homes’ Midlands region invited local sports clubs to apply for four £250 donations, and awarded the organisations it felt were most deserving of the funding for upcoming plans and continued community enrichment.
The community effort behind Rugby Foodbank inspired Angie Prince, Sales Director for Bloor Homes’ Midlands region, when she heard that over 90% of the food distributed by the foodbanks in the Trussel Trust networks are donated by the public.
Angie said: “It is heart-warming to know of the collective commitment the Rugby community has to supporting the hungry in the local area, and we are proud to add our donation to the pile of emergency supplies at Rugby Foodbank. At Bloor Homes, we are committed to helping local communities tackle the issues they face, and we are always looking for ways to collaborate with the organisations that take on such vital responsibilities.
“We hope our food donation will aid the foodbank in its continued mission and inspire others to give to the organisation this Christmas.”
