Where is Berkshire?

Berkshire is a county situated in the South East of England, to the west of London. It borders Oxfordshire to the north, Buckinghamshire to the north-east, Surrey to the east, Hampshire to the south, and Wiltshire to the west.

Part of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape runs through Berkshire to the west, while bordering London to the east, offering access to both the best of the countryside and the best of city life.

Transport in Berkshire

Berkshire enjoys easy access to the M4 motorway, which runs across the county, from the east to the west. The M4 offers direct routes into London, Bristol and South Wales, while also connecting commuters to several major roads, including the A34, between Oxford and Winchester, and the A33, towards Basingstoke.

Many of Berkshire’s towns and villages also have their own railway station, with Reading being the busiest in the county. From Reading, commuters can catch direct services to the likes of London Paddington, Bristol and Cardiff. The Elizabeth line also passes through the station, connecting Reading to Central London via the London Underground.

Heathrow Airport also sits just beyond the county’s eastern border.
