With latest survey data from Zoopla revealing one in five respondents are unhappy with their home working set-up, townhouses may offer the ideal solution.
Steve Garton, Sales Director at Bloor Homes Western, explains: “One of the main complaints we hear about working from home is finding the right space for this. Whilst the kitchen table is OK in the short-term, it simply doesn’t fit with a busy home life.
“Trying to make calls or attend Teams meetings whilst the kettle is boiling, or dinner is being prepared leaves many home workers tearing their hair out. Then there’s the hassle of packing everything away at the end of the day to make space for family life.
“The trend towards some form of home working looks set to continue, which is leading many of our buyers to seek a move to a new home that offers more and better space to accommodate a study or home office.”
According to the Zoopla research, only 23% of respondents have a study or home office, with 18% working in the living room and 14% in their bedroom. Rightmove has also reported over a third of buyers (36%) and a quarter of renters (26%) want a better home workspace. With many employers expecting the future of work to include a blend of home working, coupled with trips into the office for face-to-face meetings, space for a home office is rising in importance.
