School pupil's interior design takes flight at Bourton Chase

A local school pupil who designed an imaginative sky-themed bedroom for a new homes development has visited the site to explore the room she helped to create.

Maya Samuel, a Year Five pupil at Bourton-on-the-Water Primary Academy, created a fantastic ‘Up, Up and Away’ scheme which won first prize in the competition run by Bloor Homes at Bourton Chase.

Maya’s scheme has been incorporated into the design of a bedroom within the new showhome at Bloor’s Bourton Chase development in Bourton-on-the-Water, where Maya was welcomed on Friday 18th March to see the room for herself and to thank her for her help.

Paula Gwilliam, Regional Senior Sales Manager for Bloor Homes, said: “It’s been fantastic to see Maya’s design come to life in our new showhome at Bourton Chase.

“All of the competition entries were fantastic and we were impressed with the standard of design and initiative shown, but Maya’s theme was so original that it stood out over the rest of the entries.

“It was great to show Maya around the showhome – particularly the room which she helped to design. We hope that Maya enjoyed looking around the home as much as we enjoyed welcoming her to Bourton Chase.”

The scheme, which includes a rainbow chest of drawers and a sky mural on the walls, was used by interior designer Sarah Thomas to create the bedroom in the showhome which opened on Saturday 19th March.

Bourton-on-the-Water Primary Academy is just a short 10-minute walk from the Bourton Chase development in the quintessential Cotswold town.
