New Binfield development opens its doors to the public
The Fairways development offers 13 hectares of green open space.
Bloor Homes is currently building the first phase of homes at The Fairways development on the site of the former Blue Mountain Golf Course off Wood Lane.
The development is part of a wider mixed-used scheme which will provide around 400 homes, sport and recreation facilities, a community hub, allotments, play areas, and public open space.
King’s Academy Binfield, a new 1,800-pupil all-through school which also forms part of the development, has already been completed and opened its doors in September last year.
A total of 74 homes are being built by Bloor Homes in phase one at The Fairways, including 64 for private sale and 10 which will be made available as affordable housing.
The sales office on Temple Way is now open and visitors can also take a look inside three four-bedroom detached show homes at the development.
A major feature of the new development is the 13 hectare Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG) which is being provided at the eastern part of the site. Making use of the existing landscape features of the golf course, this will form the green spine of the development running from north to south, connecting the site to the wider countryside.
This expanse of green space, which accounts for almost a quarter of the entire site, will include a community orchard, large areas of open meadow grassland to allow dogs to exercise off their leads, a new view point feature on high ground, and new woodland and wildflower planting to support wildlife and enhance existing habitats.
A primary 2.4km circular walking route will be created within the green space, a well as several other secondary routes providing connections to existing rights of way and the residential development, and boardwalks will be installed to allow pedestrians to cross ponds and watercourses.
In addition to this 13 hectare area of green space, the site will also feature several green corridors, play areas and allotments.
Luke Southgate, Regional Sales Director at Bloor Homes Southern, said: “We are delighted to be delivering much-needed new homes at The Fairways and to be providing such a significant area of publicly accessible natural space as part of development.
“We know how much people value access to green space so we are thrilled to be retaining and enhancing this 13 hectare area for the enjoyment of new and existing residents.”
A range of three and four-bedroom homes are currently available at The Fairways, priced from £440,000.
