Rivermead Primary School pupils, Tayla Marsh and Anastasia Mitroi have won Bloor Homes’ Design a Bedroom competition for its new showhome at The Acorns development in Melksham.

Tayla and Anastasia’s winning design was inspired by their dream bedroom and perfectly demonstrates the creativity you can use when you move into a brand-new family home. The pupil’s design brought together their love of polka dots and rainbow patterns.

Karen Turner, Regional Sales Manager at Bloor Homes South West, said: “We absolutely loved Tayla and Anastasia’s design; the bright and vibrant colours we thought would be perfect in our Hallam house type, which showcases what family life could really look like.

“As soon as you step into the bedroom you feel the warmth from the bright and cheerful colours that the girls have chosen to use. The design suits the space really well.

“As a housebuilder we are not just building new houses, but homes and communities for people to live in and enjoy for years to come.”

Tayla and Anastasia’s design has been brought to life by Bloor Homes’ interior design partners, Claude Hooper and can be seen in The Hallam showhome at The Acorns in Melksham.

A blue and white vibrant polka dot wallpaper feature wall is a key feature of the bright colour scheme, which is perfect for a children’s bedroom. A vivid yellow headboard with the same polka dot scheme is a subtle but great addition to the bedroom.

Soft furnishings and accessories, including polka dot and rainbow cushions, polka dot bunting, and camel toys and features add the finishing touches to the room and create a warm and inviting space.

Karen Turner continues: “We had some great entries for the Design a Bedroom competition from pupils in Year 5 at Rivermead Primary School and we were extremely impressed by the standard.  Choosing our winner was certainly a tough job.”
