It’s not too late for house hunters who live or work in Brixham to snap up a brand new home in the town for just 75 per cent of its market value.
But prospective purchasers will need to act fast, as just one low-cost property is now available to buy at Bloor Homes’ Berry Head Park development, through a scheme designed to help local people get onto the housing ladder.
The two-bedroom semi-detached Hindhead home can be bought for 25 per cent less than market value by local buyers who meet criteria set out by Torbay District Council.
To be eligible for the scheme, buyers must live or work in Brixham and have an annual household income below £60,000.
Buyers who have previously lived or have a family connection to the town are also eligible for the scheme, and the home must be purchased as their sole residence.
The Hindhead house type makes clever use of all its space, offering a light lounge, an open-plan kitchen dining area, master bedroom featuring an ensuite and two parking spaces – ideal for those looking to step on to the property ladder.
Rowena Adams, Regional Sales Director for Bloor Homes South West, said: “Saving for a first home can be a daunting prospect, so providing low-cost homes such as this one at our Berry Head Park development is one way of helping first-time buyers in Brixham to achieve their dreams of home ownership.
“Our agreement with Torbay District Council has been a great boost for home-hunters in Brixham, enabling buyers to purchase a home in the area where they grew up and therefore remain close to their friends and families.

“The Hindhead is a firm favourite amongst buyers across our developments and Berry Head Park has proven to be very popular because of its range of homes and prime location close to Brixham’s beautiful harbour.
“As this is the last low-cost home at the development, I’d urge eligible home buyers to act quickly to avoid missing out.”
Under the low-cost housing scheme, the two-bedroom Hindhead is available to purchase at £159,712.
Only a handful of two, three and four-bedroom homes remain available to purchase in the current phase of Berry Head Park, which is located off Wall Park Road close to the Berry Head Peninsula.
