Pupils mermaid bedroom design comes to life

Ruby Gilmour, a Year Five pupil, designed a mermaid-inspired room which won first prize in the competition run by the national housebuilder, for its Bloor Homes at Alderley Gate development.
As part of the prize, Ruby and her family were invited to see the finished product before the doors were opened to the public. Also, to make it even more special experience the lucky winner was able to pick a selection of objects from the room she designed.

Sarah Ransom, Marketing Manager for Bloor Homes North West, said: “We are always extremely excited to judge our design a bedroom competition because we get to explore the world of children’s imagination, which is always a pleasure.

“Ruby’s theme impressed us with the design features she used, such as the striking colour palette and sparkly textures. The mermaid scales were represented in the fabulous 3D wallpaper, which sits so well with the overall showhome design.

“Her fantastic illustration looks superb in our new four-bedroom Berrington showhome and it was great to show Ruby and her family the end result. We worked very closely with leading Cheshire based design consultancy Interior Motives to implement Ruby’s vision.”

The Berrington is an impressive detached family home, which features four double bedrooms, a light and airy open-plan kitchen/dining area boasting superb skylights and an attractive family area. The stunning kitchen and lounge both have double French doors leading to the spacious rear garden. There’s also a personal home office and a cloakroom.
To complete this extremely superior, modern home, the Berrington comes with a garage and private driveway.
