Uppingham Town Cricket Club announces sponsorship deal with Bloor Homes

Uppingham Town Cricket Club has secured a major sponsorship deal with Bloor Homes to support its thriving junior section.

The deal, which is worth £10,000 over the next three years, will enable the club to deliver   professional coaching for its ever-expanding pool of junior players.

Last year, Uppingham Town had over 130 junior members registered, and with almost 150 already signed up for this season Bloor Homes’ support will help the club to meet the growing appetite for the game among local youngsters and to develop the cricketing stars of the future.

As well as potentially providing an influx of new junior members, the development will also deliver a new Gigaclear Ultrafast Fibre Broadband connection to the club, which will benefit players, officials and spectators.

Uppingham Town’s junior section was established in the late 1980s and the club now runs teams in Under 9, 11, 13, and 15 age groups, with weekly coaching sessions that include Under 5s and Under 7s.  More than 100 boys and girls attend weekly training on Thursday evenings throughout the season and the club has recently started running net sessions during the winter months.

The funding from Bloor Homes will be used to employ professional coaches from Tom Flowers Cricket Coaching and to extend and update the club’s range of junior kit.

Charlie Scott, chairman of Uppingham Town Cricket Club, said: “We have some very exciting plans for our junior section and this sponsorship from Bloor Homes will go a long way to making our ambitions a reality."

“Our junior membership is increasing year on year so we are delighted to be bringing in professional coaches to help meet the demand for cricket among local youngsters and to enable our junior players to maximise their potential."

“A number of our young players are already with Leicestershire at county level and we want to make sure these stars of the future stay at the club and continue to develop with us. As a club we are immensely proud of the fact that three-quarters of our senior team in 2017 were homegrown players who came through our junior section."

“We are extremely grateful to Bloor Homes for their tremendous support which will enable us to provide top class coaching and enjoyable cricket in Uppingham for generations to come.”

Michele Rose, Regional Sales Director for Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “Supporting the local communities in which we build is very important to us, so we are thrilled to be sponsoring Uppingham Town Cricket Club."

“We hope our support will enable the club to provide even more opportunities for local youngsters to take up the game, including those who will be living at our new development nearby.”
