Marriage proposal caps perfect day for house buying couple
A Nottinghamshire couple had extra cause for celebration after moving into their first home together, at Spring Park in Mapperley.
Kurt Blood and Lucy Morley, both 32, reserved a three-bedroom detached house at Bloor Homes’ Spring Park development in Mapperley on the day the sales office opened.
And just moments after picking up the keys to their new home, Kurt got down on one knee and proposed to his partner of seven years, who much to his delight, said “yes.”
The couple, who plan to tie the knot next year, had been living with Kurt’s parents in Carlton whilst saving up to buy a place of their own.
Lucy, a clinic co-ordinator at Nottingham City Hospital, and Kurt, a diamond driller with a construction company, had been house hunting for a year when they heard about Bloor’s forthcoming development in Mapperley, next to Gedling Country Park.
And although they were initially sceptical about buying a new build, those doubts melted away as soon as they stepped inside the showhome at the development.
Lucy, said: “What really sold it to us was how great the showhome was inside and how everything had been done to such a high standard. The houses were also much bigger than I was expecting. People tell you that new build houses are small but that’s certainly not the case here.
“The location was also a big draw. Our house overlooks Gedling Country Park and the view is just fantastic – on a clear day you can see for miles! We’re just 10 minutes away from both sets of parents, the shops in Mapperley are not far away and it’s just a 15-minute drive to work in Nottingham.
“We wanted a three-bedroom detached house but all of the ones in phase one had already gone by the time we got to the sales office, so we reserved one on phase two and it was definitely worth the wait. The house is just perfect and we both absolutely love it.
“The sales advisors Nicola and Angie have both been amazing and the whole process has just been so stress free. We used Bloor’s recommended solicitors and mortgage advisors and everything went so smoothly.
Describing the moment Kurt popped the question, Lucy added: “I was already beyond excited to be moving into our new house when I got called into the living room and saw Kurt go down on one knee. It really was the perfect day. Our lives have completely changed and we couldn’t be happier.”
