No chain, no worries for upsizers Adam and Libby

A couple who had to put their moving plans on hold last summer after the sale of their old house fell through made sure they avoided a repeat of the heartbreak when they found their dream family home in Edwalton a few months later.

Adam and Libby Tipler had been planning to upsize from their three-bedroom Victorian terraced house in West Bridgford last year, but after their buying chain broke down they decided to take their home off the market and try again in 2019.

However, when the couple discovered the four-bedroom Berrington house at Bloor Homes’ Edwalton Park development, just a few miles away, they realised it was the perfect property in which to start a family.

And by using Bloor Homes’ Part Exchange scheme, Adam, 29, and Libby, 27, were able to secure their new home without having to worry about finding a buyer for their old property, moving in just a few days before Christmas.

Under the scheme, Bloor Homes makes an offer on a customer’s existing home, based on valuations from two local estate agents, cutting out the stress and hassle of being in a chain.

Libby, who works at a nearby day nursery, said: “Using Bloor Homes’ Part Exchange scheme was fantastic for us, particularly after the difficulty we had trying to sell our house last year. To have the security of knowing that what happened to us last year wouldn’t happen again was just wonderful.

Adam, a contracts manager for an electrical services company, added: “The offer we received on the house was more than what we were expecting, the customer service we received has been fantastic and the whole process was just so straightforward. There was no downside to it at all.”

The couple had not initially considered buying a new build home, but they fell in love with the Berrington’s open plan layout, practical design, spacious rooms and quality finish.

Adam said: “We didn’t think we would go for a new build because we didn’t think we would get value for money. When we’ve looked at new builds in the past one of the bedrooms was always too small and the layout wasn’t quite right, but here everything was spot on.

“We have been so impressed with the build quality and the little touches like the higher ceilings and wider bannister. We’ve found that with Bloor, high quality comes as standard and you don’t need to buy extras.”

Libby added: “What we really loved about the Berrington was the social aspect. At our old home we had a galley kitchen which was out of the way and not very sociable, but our new kitchen/dining/living area is just ideal. The whole layout of the house is perfect, the bedrooms are all a good size and we have so much space.”

With easy access to West Bridgford and Nottingham city centre, good schools nearby and a peaceful setting tucked away from the main road, Edwalton Park’s location also ticked all the boxes.
Libby said: “We feel very lucky to live at Edwalton Park and we definitely see our future here.”
