The housebuilder, whose Alms Meadow development is located in the village has donated £3,000 donation towards a major refurbishment of the kitchen in the church schoolroom.

The schoolroom is a popular venue for various functions including the annual Etwall Well Dressing festival, which dates back to 1970.

The church is aiming to raise a total of £20,000 to cover the cost of the renovations.

Wendy Smith, senior steward at Etwall Methodist Church, said: “The present kitchen has been in place for over 30 years and has served the church and the local community well.

However, it is now very tired and much of the equipment needs updating.
“We’re now over half way to reaching our goal of £20,000 and I would like to personally thank Bloor Homes for their generous donation.”

Michele Rose, Regional Sales Director for Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “We are always keen to support the local communities in which we build, and we are therefore delighted to contribute towards Etwall Methodist Church’s fundraising appeal.

“The church is an integral part of the village, and I’m sure the refurbished kitchen will be a great asset for the local community for many years to come.”

Bloor Homes is building 100 homes off Willington Road as part of its Alms Meadow development.

As part of the Section 106 planning agreement, the developer is contributing around £800,000 towards local infrastructure and amenities, including £597,299 for schools and post-16 education.
