Young designer's ‘Pink Princess’ dream bedroom comes to life at Bloor Homes’ showhome
Bloor Homes Sales Advisor Lauren Carroll welcomed Lakeside Kite Academy student Sara Farhan to the new showhome at the Bloor Homes at Mindenhurst development to see Sara’s competition winning 'Pink Princess Room' design brought to life.
A Year 5 student from Lakeside Kite Academy in Deepcut, Surrey has seen her magical bedroom design brought to life after winning a competition to design a bedroom in one of the new showhomes at the new Bloor Homes at Mindenhurst development in the village.
Sara Farhan, who attends Lakeside Kite Academy junior school right next door to the new development, entered the competition after Bloor Homes invited pupils to submit their dream bedroom designs in 2025.
Around 30 entries were received, with Sara's 'Pink Princess Room' chosen as the standout winner by Bloor Homes' interior design partner, Artspace Interior Design, winning her a new art set and £30 voucher, a framed mood board of her design to keep, and Bloor goodie bag.
Artspace interpreted Sara's original design concept, creating a real bedroom reflecting her princess theme complete with a dreamy bed canopy, scallop wall panelling, fairy lights, a feather pendant light, oval mirror, dressing table and stool, and princess-inspired décor — all brought together in Sara's signature palette of soft pink, white and silver, with plenty of sparkle.
Lara Thompson, Head of Sales for Bloor Homes’ Southern region, said: "Sara's 'Pink Princess Room' immediately caught the eye of the team at Artspace from the moment they opened her entry.
“What set it apart from the other designs was her wonderful attention to detail — she hadn't just thought about colours, she had carefully considered her furniture choices, their placement within the room, and those magical finishing touches like the sparkle canopy and rug that really brought the whole concept to life.
“It was a beautifully considered and creative design, and it has been a pleasure to see the team at Artspace translating her vision into a real space. We hope Sara feels the room is everything she imagined — and more."
Sara and her mum Faraha were invited to visit the new bedroom at the showhome launch (w/e 14/15 March). After seeing the bedroom for the first time, Sara said: “Designing the bedroom was really good fun and it’s brilliant to see the finished design in real life. My favourite parts are the pretty pink decorations, the feather pendant light and the lovely accessories which make the room look magical. When I’m older I would love to be an interior designer, so this is really exciting for me.”
Sara’s mum, Faraha, said: “Thank you to Bloor Homes for inviting us to see the bedroom and for the lovely gifts for Sara – she said she was made to feel like a VIP! Sara was so excited to see the bedroom and we absolutely loved it. The bedroom and the showhome look fantastic.”
The location is ideal for families, with walkable spaces with natural landscaping, play areas, and routes for walking and cycling. The new development will have its own on-site sports complex and community hall. For commuters, Farnborough train station is just 4 miles from the development with services to London taking over half an hour by train.
Bloor Homes is delivering 144 two, three and four bedroom homes across fifteen different house styles homes at the new development.
Now launched, the four-bedroom Dawlish showhome featuring Sara's winning bedroom design is the last of three showhomes to open at the development.
The three-bedroom Huxley and Buxton showhomes alongside the new four-bedroom showhome are all open daily from 10am to 5pm, located off Mindenhurst Road.
