Swindon girls football team crowned 24 25 league champions
Swindon Youth Girls team triumph with first place in Wiltshire Youth Football League.
FC Abbey Meads U13s Girls team have topped their North Wiltshire Youth Football league division table with a sweeping win, gaining from their second-place position last season with support from housing developer Bloor Homes.
The 9-a-side team have not only won their division’s league, but also achieved a clean sweep at the Minehead Under 13 Girls competition this past weekend, triumphing in all seven of their games and conceding only one goal in total. Having secured Bloor Homes’ South West region as a sponsor at the beginning of the 24/25 season, FC Abbey Meads’ U13 girls have led the club and its developer partner to victory ahead of the Women’s Euros 2025, due to be hosted by Switzerland this summer.
Lisa Smith, FC Abbeys Meads Secretary said: “We are extremely proud of our U13 Girls Purple team and their amazing result this season. Their win is completely deserved and reflects the girl’s commitment to showing up for training and talent on the pitch. FC Abbey Meads is grateful to Bloor Homes for its support towards girls’ sports across the country and in our community.”
The club train and compete across Swindon, with one location in Chippenham nearby to Bloor Homes’ popular development of three and four bedroom homes at Hilltop Park, where the next phase of brand-new properties is launching this summer. With the developer’s regional head office also close by in Swindon, back in September 2024 Bloor Homes donated an array of kit and new footballs to the Under 13s Girls team as part of its continued effort to support the local communities it builds within and inject funding into women and girls sport wherever possible.
Kim Benson, Sales Director for Bloor Homes’ South West region is eager to support women’s sport through donating to the local girls’ team. She said: “With a number of teams located in our operating area, we were eager to support the important growth of women’s football in Swindon, ahead of the England Lionesses exciting return to the Euros this summer. Bloor Homes is eager to continue promoting this sport through sponsorship and funding towards the girls’ teams in our communities.”
She adds: “A huge well done to the FC Abbey Meads Under 13s Girls this season, everyone at Bloor Homes South West is extremely proud of your brilliant accomplishment!”
