Karting Ace Theo gets green light from Bloor Homes
When 9 year-old local lad Theo Tyack’s family bought a brand-new Bloor Homes property at The Wick in Weston-Super-Mare, they also got an upgrade – in the form of new racing kit for the karting mad youngster.
A talented new member of the Jade Racing Team, Theo started his career with Team Sports in Bristol in October 2022 aged 8 having reached the height restriction for karting and he hasn’t looked back.
Theo’s dad, Simon Tyack explains: “Theo loved the karting so much that he wanted to join the Team Sports Academy where he learnt the basics of ‘race craft’ - cornering, slip streaming etc. and soon moved through the stages of beginners, intermediate and advanced training.
“By June 2023 Theo was racing in the local Team Sports league in Bristol every Monday. He qualified with a 3rd place to reach the British Indoor Karting Championships and made the semi final in Leicester in October – just a year after he first took to the track.”
But it was during the summer that things raced ahead for Theo, when his talent took him to a trial day with Jade Racing Team, and a tour of the family-owned factory in Banbury which builds racing karts.
Simon explains: “Jade were brilliant. They told us everything we needed to do if Theo wanted to join the team. Having satisfied them with his ability on the track, Theo had to get a licence from the Association of Racing Kart Schools (ARKS), which he passed first time, and we had to buy the kart and kit Theo out as well. That’s where Bloor Homes comes in.”
Having already invested in the kart, Simon approached Bloor Homes to help with the costs and they were happy to pay for his team racing suit, boots and gloves. Simon adds: “We are really grateful to Bloor Homes for their support - as you can imagine, we are investing a lot in Theo and having help from Bloor Homes towards the kit is one less thing to think about when getting Theo out on the grid. Thank you so much to the whole team at Bloor Homes who have been so supportive.”
Stephanie Ubl, Sales Manager at Bloor Homes South West region, said: “As a company we always like to encourage grass roots sport and we are thrilled to be able to help Theo with his team racing kit. He is clearly a talented young man and we will definitely be watching his progress when he starts racing in the Club Kart Championship in January 2024. His goal is to progress to racing in Europe and it is great to be supporting him at the start of his racing journey. Good luck Theo!”
The Club Championship sees teams across the UK competing at the UK’s best venues where talented drivers age 6-16 years battle it out in 10 rounds in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Watch Theo’s progress on Instagram @theotyack
