Housebuilder investment confirmed for Widnes community

The highly anticipated Bloor Homes development coming to Widnes will inject significant financial investment into the local area thanks to a substantial Section 106 agreement.

Named Aspen Brook, the new development of three and four-bedroom homes will create a base for a new neighbourhood to blossom in the Cheshire town. Meanwhile, new and existing residents will benefit from over £880,000 in the form of financial contributions towards public open space, travel and transport and recreation and biodiversity net gain infrastructure.

Section 106 agreements are legal agreements between a planning authority and a developer that ensure additional works relating to a development are undertaken. Designed to ensure communities benefit from housing developments being built in their area, Section 106 contributions direct the necessary funding for infrastructure to be improved over a given period. As a result of this sizable investment from Bloor Homes, the local communities around Aspen Brook will all benefit from the wider improvements that will be delivered.

James Clark, Managing Director at Bloor Homes’ North West region, said: “Our Aspen Brook development will bring several infrastructure upgrades to benefit the local community of Widnes. Having worked with the local planning authority, we have identified the key areas for investment and look forward to combining our financial commitments with the energy-efficient, high-quality homes that will soon be on offer at Aspen Brook.”

Aspen Brook is located on South Lane in Widnes, with prices now released and a showhome due to open for visits in September. Overlooking the Cheshire countryside including Sunnybank Woodland Park on its doorstep, the new neighbourhood is situated between the towns of Widnes and Warrington for prime accessibility.
