Bloor Homes hikers take on 22-mile Housebuilder Challenge for charity

Last month [Sept], four members of the Bloor Homes Eastern regional team embarked on a 22-mile hike across the Yorkshire Dales, completing the 2025 Housebuilder Challenge hosted by the Youth Adventure Trust.

Having raised £800 for the charity, the Bloor Homes team finished the challenge in just under eight hours, tracking 41,000 steps in wind, rain and hail. The volunteers included Marketing Manager Daniel Steed, Senior Architectural Technician Craig Attmere, Engineer Jack Brill and Senior Engineer Mike Pemberton, all based in the developer’s Eastern region.

The Youth Adventure Trust is a charity focused on using outdoor adventure and one-to-one support to empower young people and help them reach their full potential. The annual Housebuilder Challenge is a national event that invites the housebuilding industry to take on gruelling circular routes and raise money for the vulnerable young people the charity works with.

Daniel Steed, Marketing Manager at Bloor Homes’ Eastern region described the challenge as the hardest thing he had ever done: “After 8 hours of plenty of elevation in testing weather conditions, I am so proud of the team for completing this year’s housebuilder challenge. We are always eager to support charitable organisations and take part in fundraising events, especially for a cause so important to all of us.”

He continues: “The Youth Adventure Trust does such amazing work in helping young people build resilience, develop confidence and learn skills that will last a lifetime. Our time in the Yorkshire Dales may have been challenging, but it was worth it for the young people we will be able to support through the money raised. Thank you to everyone that supported us and donated to our fundraiser, we’re grateful for all the motivation you gave us!

“Thank you also to the Youth Adventure Trust for putting on such a brilliant event.”

Bloor Homes’ Eastern region includes an array of neighbourhoods in Rochford, Thurston, Stowmarket, Basildon, Elsenham and more locations, with a mix of two to five-bedroom energy-efficient properties available.
