Part of the Trussell network, a national organisation tackling UK hunger, Tamworth Foodbank has distributed over £152,000 worth of food to local people in crisis between April 2023 and April 2024.
According to Trussell, 1 in 5 people in the UK live below the poverty line, which is why community fundraising and donations from businesses such as Bloor Homes are vital to enable the important work of local foodbanks to continue.
Emma Coates, Project Manager at Tamworth Foodbank, said “We urge anyone that can spare a food package or financial donation to support us this Christmas, as it will make such a huge difference to those in the Tamworth community that need our help, especially at this time of year.
“We would like to thank Bloor Homes for its kind donation, as collective contributions from local businesses can provide a huge boost to our operations and allow us to provide emergency support to as many people as possible.”
The developer offered the donation in the spirit of festive giving, though it upholds a year-round commitment to supporting the communities it builds within.
Angie Prince, Sales Director for Bloor Homes’ Midlands region, was inspired by the individual foodbanks’ commitment to their local communities: “It is heart-warming to know of the strong commitment that the volunteers across the Midlands have towards supporting the hungry, and we are proud to add our donation to the pile of emergency supplies at the foodbanks local to our developments. At Bloor Homes, we are also committed to helping the community tackle the issues they face, and we are always looking for ways to collaborate with the important organisations that take on such responsibilities.
“We hope our food donations will aid the foodbanks in their mission and encourage others to give to their local organisations this Christmas.”
