Bloor Homes donates £250 to a local foodbank in Newport
Bloor Homes' Midlands region has donate £250 to Newport (Shropshire) Food Bank, a charity located just half a mile from the Bloor Homes' Hutchison Gate development, in Newport.
Newport Food Bank is a charity that organises and distributes parcels of donated food and toiletries to local individuals and families each week. Run by volunteers and fuelled by support from the local community, the organisation has been supporting individual and families in need from Newport and the surrounding areas with emergency food parcels and supplies since 2013.
According to the Trussel Trust, a national foodbank charity with a similar mission to Newport Food Bank, 1 in 5 people in the UK live below the poverty line, which is why community fundraising and donations from businesses such as Bloor Homes are vital to enable the important work of local foodbanks to continue.
Matthew Partridge, Manager at Newport Food Bank, said: “We encourage anyone in the Newport community who can spare a donation or food package to support us this Christmas, as all donations make a difference to those that need our help, especially at this time of year.
“We would like to thank Bloor Homes for its kind donation. Monetary contributions from local businesses provide a huge boost to our operations and help us to distribute emergency food supplies to as many people as possible.”
The developer offered the donation in the spirit of festive giving, though it upholds a year-round commitment to supporting the communities it builds within, having recently sponsored the Christmas Light Switch-On in Newport town centre. Alongside a £250 donation to this year’s festive display, Emma Hodgkinson, Sales Advisor for Hutchison Gate, joined Town Clerk Joanne Reay ahead of the official ‘switch on’ on Friday 22nd November.
Angie Prince, Sales Director for Bloor Homes’ Midlands region, said: “It is heart-warming to know of the foodbank volunteers’ commitment to supporting the hungry in Newport, and we are proud to support the important work being done by Newport Food Bank. At Bloor Homes, we are committed to helping local communities tackle the issues they face, and we are always looking for ways to collaborate with the organisations that take on such vital responsibilities.
“We hope our donation will aid the foodbank in its continued mission and inspire others to give to the organisation this Christmas."
