Work to start on 99 homes

5.6-Hectare site in Swavesey set for development

Nearly 100 new homes will be built in Swavesey, with construction set to begin later this month. Housebuilder Bloor Homes is building 99 new properties on a 5.6-hectare site south of Fen Drayton Road.

Planning permission for the scheme was granted by South Cambridgeshire District Council last December. The development which is known as Bloor Homes at Swavesey, will comprise 59 homes for private sale and 50 affordable homes, as well as 2.2 hectares of open space, including a play area and community orchard.

As part of the Section 106 legal agreement for the development, Bloor Homes will provide funding of more than £622,000 towards local services and infrastructure. This includes £387,142 for education, £102,833 towards off-site sports facilities, £46,686 for community facilities, a £32,640 healthcare contribution, £7,172 for additional library provision and £27,000 to provide real time bus passenger information displays.

Terry Tedder, regional managing director of Bloor Homes Eastern said: "We are delighted to have acquired the land for our new development and look forward to starting construction work on the first homes later this month. Bloor Homes at Swavesey will feature a range of two, three and four bedroom homes, which will cater for a wide spectrum of people from first time buyers to growing families and downsizers. As well as delivering much needed new homes for Swavesey, Bloor Homes at Swavesey will provide a large area of open space for new and existing residents to enjoy and will also make a significant financial contribution towards improving services for the local community. The first homes at Bloor Homes at Swavesey are due to go on sale early 2020 with the launch of our sales office and showhomes,"
