Another successful Rowhedge Regatta
The annual Rowhedge Regatta took place on Saturday 22nd June.
The annual Rowhedge Regatta took place on Saturday 22nd June. Enjoying glorious weather, the event was a great success for participants, thanks in part to sponsorship from developer Bloor Homes.
For the fourth year, the housebuilder, whose waterside Rowhedge Wharf development is in the village, donated £1,000 towards the evening entertainment, which featured live music. Residents at the development were guaranteed a ringside view of the waterfront action, with homes here enjoying stunning views across the river.
The Regatta, which is believed to date back to the 18th century, is the biggest event in Rowhedge’s social calendar and attracts thousands of visitors to the quayside every year.
Emma Potter, Chairlady of the Rowhedge Regatta Association, said: "This year has been our biggest Regatta ever, it's fantastic to see the event so well attended and we have received some amazing feedback from our visitors and vendors. It is the continued support of our sponsors, vendors and the public that allow us to continue to put on this fabulous event, so our thanks as always go to you all.”
The Regatta provided plenty of action on the water for spectators, with a fantastic sight of the glorious boats racing up the river. The event also featured a down river duck race.
Back on dry land, there were a variety of local craft and food stalls, a dog show and a children’s fancy-dress competition. There were also games to keep the whole family entertained.
There was live entertainment throughout the day and went into the evening showcasing local talent.
