Downsizing couple find perfect home at Paxton Mill
When Sarah and Mark Simmons were looking to downsize from their four bedroom home, they had decided they didn’t want a new-build. That was until they visited Bloor Homes’ Paxton Mill development in Little Paxton near St Neots in Cambridgeshire.
“We originally didn't want a new-build but we were struggling to find a property to suit us,” explains Sarah. “We decided to look around and were very impressed with the Bloor Homes’ development. When we visited, the houses were not on top of each other – there was plenty of space and it was a really nice area.
“The development was clean and the houses looked really nice. Once we looked at a show home with Helen, Bloor Homes’ sales adviser, we decided it was the right choice for us.”
As cash buyers downsizing without a mortgage, Sarah and Mark were keen to find the right home in the right location too. Little Paxton really appealed to the couple as Sarah adds: “We brought a three-bedroom Grovier house style and were lucky to be cash buyers as our mortgage had finished two years earlier.
“We wanted to downsize and make life a bit easier for ourselves. The house, the development and location are all great. We love the area as we are situated by the nature reserve which is in walking distance.”
The Grovier chosen by Sarah and Mark is a modern, energy-efficient home which maximises the living space. The master bedroom comes with an ensuite and there are two further good sized bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor.
Downstairs, the living space has been really carefully considered, giving a good sized lounge (13’10”x 11’7”) to the front of the home, and a spacious, light-filled kitchen / diner across the back of the house, plus downstairs WC and utility. The French doors onto the garden from the kitchen give a real sense of extended space and as Sarah and Mark chose plot 39, they benefitted from a really good sized garden and driveway for two cars too.
The size of the garden was certainly a selling point for the couple as they have two dogs. When asked what makes them smile about the property, Sarah says: “The garden, and also the windows. We love the style of them.”
Having found their perfect property in the right location, Sarah and Mark then went through the process of choosing and buying their new home, and they could not speak more highly of the sales team at Paxton Mill: “We had excellent service from Helen and Shirley,” says Sarah. “Helen made the whole process so much less stressful. She was really good at keeping us informed and sending regular updates. Her friendly manner and knowledge was excellent.
“The site team - Joe, Ryan and all the team - were very friendly and helpful. Any contractor who came to our home we found pleasant and really helpful.”
So, would Sarah and Mark recommend Bloor Homes and Paxton Mill?
They already have!
“I have recommended my sister who had brought a Littleton, our close friends Roy and Deb who have brought a Byron and my husband’s friend Robert who has purchased a 4 bedroomed house from Bloor Homes,” says Sarah. “Go for it. You won't regret it. We are so happy with our home. The service you receive is excellent. The team are friendly and the whole process was as stress free as possible.”
As well as having Paxton Pits Nature Reserve right on the doorstep, Bloor Homes’ Paxton Mill development of just 199 new homes is within walking distance of St Neots, a lovely market town on the River Great Ouse with great leisure spaces and activities, eateries and walks. Add that both Little Paxton and St Neots have great schools, and commuter links to Cambridge, Huntingdon and London and it is easy to see why purchasers want to move there.
The two, three and four bedroom homes available at Paxton Mill are ideal for first time buyers, growing families and, like Sarah and Mark, downsizers looking for a low maintenance new home in a lovely location.
