New Build Homes for Sale in Lancashire
From scenic national landscapes to picturesque coastal towns, Lancashire is a desirable place to live for those who enjoy the outdoors and don’t want to sacrifice access to major cities. Our new homes for sale in Lancashire are surrounded by some of the region’s most beautiful countryside, including the Forest of Bowland and Ribble Estuary, while the historic cities of Lancaster and Preston are also nearby. Whether you’re a young family, a commuter or looking to enjoy your retirement, Lancashire offers something for everyone.
Where is Lancashire?
Located in the north of England, Lancashire neighbours Yorkshire to the east, with Cheshire to the south and Cumbria to the north. It lies along the coast of the Irish Sea, with the Isle of Man across the water. The county of Lancashire is home to the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, the Ribble estuary and the cities of Preston and Lancaster, while the major cities of Liverpool and Manchester lie within easy reach to the south.
Transport in Lancashire
Lancashire has access to several of the North West’s largest motorways, including the M6, the M61 and the M55. You can use the M6 and the M61 to get to Manchester and Liverpool with ease, while the M55 will take you from Preston to Blackpool in less than half an hour.
The county also contains a swathe of the West Coast Main Line, a major railway route connecting Lancaster and Preston with major hubs, such as Crewe. Preston’s train station connects residents directly to Manchester, while Leyland and Wigan provide services into Liverpool. You can even catch trains from Lancaster into Carlisle and the Lake District.
Shopping in Lancashire
Lancashire is famous for its markets. You can experience some of these in Fleetwood, Chorley, and Ormskirk, where the markets operate weekly, while more seasonal shopping is available at various Christmas markets and food festivals across the county. As for a modern retail experience, Lancashire’s most popular shopping district is in Preston, where you can find a range of clothing outlets and restaurants along Fishergate. Some of Preston’s most popular shops include Marks & Spencer, River Island and Waterstones, while you can visit St George’s Shopping Centre to browse Matalan, Swarovski, Pandora, and New Look.
Things to do in Lancashire
The county of Lancashire is full of rural charm. You can stargaze or observe nocturnal wildlife in Bowland, under the darkest skies in England, while birdwatchers can visit two RSPB reserves at Hesketh Out Marsh and Marshside. As for heritage, Lancashire is famous for the Pendle Witch Trail, a cycling route following the Pendle Witches from Barrowford to Lancaster Castle. You can also visit a number of historic sites across the county, including Gawthorpe Hall near Burnley, Rufford Old Hall near Burscough, and the Leighton Hall Estate near Carnforth.
The best places to buy new homes in Lancashire
Lancashire is a large county covering national landscapes, sprawling beaches, and urban commuter towns. Here are a few of the best places to buy a new build in Lancashire, from seaside towns to city suburbs.
Preston
A vibrant city located in the heart of Lancashire, between Blackburn and Blackpool, Preston is popular for its beautiful green spaces and thriving shopping district, as well as its direct train links to Liverpool and Manchester. Many people move to Preston to take advantage of its countryside access, with the Forest of Bowland close by and the Ribble estuary a few miles to the west. Our Lancashire new builds are located just west of the city in Ashton-on-Ribble, within 15 minutes’ drive of Preston Station and a 35-minute drive away from the RSPB’s Hasketh Out Marsh.
Lancaster
In the north of Lancashire, the city of Lancaster is the last urban hotspot before you reach the sprawling mountains of the Lake District – one of the most popular national parks in the UK. Its surrounding countryside is full of activities such as hiking, climbing and watersports. The city also has plenty of historic value, with a tourism scene centred around the Pendle Witches and the intact Lancaster Castle in the city centre. Living in Lancaster provides the perfect mix of urban amenities and countryside charm, with the added benefit of a thriving job scene and its own 5-platform train station.
Southport
Located on the West Lancashire coastal plain, Southport is one of the most popular destinations in the North West for its sandy beaches and nature reserves. As for its amenities, Southport has its own theme park at the Adventure Coast, as well as a beautiful promenade and a high street full of shops and restaurants. Boaters can join the Southport Sailing Club at the inland marine lake, while golfers have plenty of opportunities to play near the Ainsdale dunes. Southport is an excellent choice if you’re looking for nearby leisure opportunities, from sandy beaches to hiking routes.
