The women’s team success is one of the most exciting grassroots success stories in the area; launched in 2024 it attracted 25 women who went on to win the Bedfordshire Women Softball League in 2025. The squad has also competed in its first-ever indoor cricket season, with training sessions open to girls and women of all ages and abilities running throughout the year.
Bloor Homes is building its Newport Vale development of c.700 new homes just down the road from the club's Willen Road base and was happy to provide the sponsorship.
Catherine Simmons of Newport Pagnell Town Cricket Club said: "What this team has achieved in such a short space of time is something we're all incredibly proud of. When we started out, the aim was to give women in the area a welcoming, fun place to play cricket. What's followed has been extraordinary; the talent, the commitment and the team spirit have grown week on week with the results speaking for themselves. Having the support of our ‘new neighbours’ Bloor Homes means a lot to the whole team.”
Women's cricket is one of the fastest growing areas of the sport in England, with clubs across the country establishing new teams to meet rising demand. Grassroots clubs like Newport Pagnell Town are at the forefront of that growth, providing a welcoming environment for women and girls to discover the game, develop their skills and build lasting friendships.
Carl Slater, Regional Managing Director for Bloor Homes South Midlands, said: “The story of this women's team is very inspiring. To go from a standing start to competing and winning in such a short time is a real testament to the players, coaches and volunteers. Bloor Homes has a long history of supporting grassroots sports and as our Newport Vale development is located near to the cricket club, it really was an easy decision to make to be kit sponsor for this ambitious team. We're proud to be behind them and wish them the best of luck for the season.”
Newport Pagnell Town Cricket Club is based at Willen Road Sports Ground, Newport Pagnell, which welcomes players of all ages and abilities.
