Charlotte and Sam find the key to their dreams at Windrush Place

When Charlotte was handed the keys to her brand new Bloor home, little did she know that her already special day was about to become even more memorable, thanks to her partner Sam.

As Charlotte Martin went to unlock the front door of their three bedroom new home she had purchased with her boyfriend Sam Johnston at the Windrush Place development in Witney, the key would not turn. Sam handed her another set of keys, attached to which was a leather tag displaying the words: “Marry me.”

Sam then got down on one knee to propose, and a stunned Charlotte said “yes”, much to the delight of their parents and our excited Sales Team, who were in on the surprise.

The proposal capped off a memorable day for the couple, who were moving into their first house together, having previously owned a maisonette just down the road in Freeland.

Charlotte said: “It was an absolute whirlwind. It was so lovely to move into our new house and get engaged at the same time. I just can’t express in words how happy we are.”

Office Manager Charlotte, 23, and Structural Engineer Sam, 29, both work in Witney and said the desire for a shorter commute was one of the main reasons why they decided to move.

With two dogs to look after, space was also a key factor and the couple, who are planning to tie the knot in 2020, found that the three bedroom Yarkhill house type at Windrush Place was perfect for their needs.

Charlotte said: “We wanted somewhere that was a bit closer to our work and Witney is a lovely place to live. There is lots to do with plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops.

“We decided to look at new build because we both have busy lifestyles and didn’t want to spend too much time decorating. We really liked the design and layout of the homes at Windrush Place and the Yarkhill is just ideal for us. We’ve got lots of space and having the utility room is great for the dogs.”

By using the Government backed Help to Buy scheme, Charlotte and Sam were able to purchase with just a five per cent deposit and 75 per cent mortgage, with the remaining 20 per cent being provided as an equity loan which is interest free for the first five years.

Charlotte added: “We knew a little about the scheme and when the Sales Advisors explained our options it made perfect sense to use it. Because we could buy the house with a smaller deposit we have got more money left over to spend on other things.

“We were really impressed with the customer service we received from Bloor Homes. The two Sales Advisors Cheryl and Lindsay were very helpful and kept us fully updated all the way through the process.”

Congratulations to Charlotte and Sam, from all of the team at Bloor Homes!
