Wilstock Village proves perfect place to call home

A move from Coventry to the idyllic Somerset countryside was a brave move for one family, but two years down the line, the family are delighted with their life-changing decision.

Jane and Wayne Hunt and their three children, aged 8, 13 and 19 relocated to Bloor Homes’ Wilstock Village development between Bridgwater and North Petherton in August 2017 when Wayne was transferred by his company, Downton HGV’s.

Jane said: “The children were very reluctant to move from Coventry. It was a huge change for all of us; I am Coventry born and bred and had lived there for 52 years. We said we’d give it a year and if we weren’t happy, we would look to move back. But everyone settled quickly, including my eldest who has Autism and ADHD and we all love it here.

“We had just one week to settle in before the new school term started, so it was quite a whirlwind. The children love their new schools and have made some good friends. Our 13-year old has much more freedom than he would have had in Coventry, cycling off places with his friends on his bike.

“We also really like the pace of life; we’re so glad we made the decision to leave Coventry. It’s a much nicer place to raise children.

“We have always liked Bloor Homes; we were planning to move within the next 10 years anyway, so have enjoyed exploring a variety of new build developments up in the Midlands. We noticed that Bloor homes are much more geared towards family needs and the finish is fantastic, so a Bloor home was definitely top of the wish list.

“We identified a number of new developments in Somerset and spent a couple of days visiting them all. We really wanted a new build as we felt that if we were going to uproot the family, we wanted to be able to move in, get settled and enjoy discovering the new area rather than spend precious time on decorating and renovations.

“Wilstock Village was the third site we visited, and we literally took one look at the development and fell in love with it. The site backs onto a wildlife development and would be ready in time for when we needed it.

“We bought a four-bedroom Berrington house type. The house has four good-sized bedrooms, so all the children have a decent size room, which isn’t always the case with new-build homes. We also have a spacious kitchen/dining/family area which is the hub of the home and works so well as a space for all the family to be together.

“Although we already owned a property in Coventry, we used Help to Buy to fund our purchase. We could have managed without, but we might not have been able to afford the size and style of house that we bought, or things might have been a bit stretched.  It also allowed me to take a year off work to make sure everyone was settled and happy.

“From the outset, Bloor Homes has been fantastic, from the sales team who went above and beyond, to the site team who dealt with our snagging list professionally and quickly. We would certainly recommend the development to our friends and family; in fact, some of our friends who have visited have been so impressed they’ve admitted they would like to move down too once their child finishes his GCSE’s!

“Moving to Wilstock Village has been a real lifestyle change for us all and we couldn’t be happier!”

The final phase of homes at Wilstock Village is now available, with strong interest reported by the sales team. This final phase will see the construction of 248 new homes, with a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties suitable for everyone from first-time buyers, to couples, families and downsizers.

The development has been carefully designed to create a new country village near North Petherton and is situated on the edge of a new landscaped country park.

A stunning range of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes are currently available at Wilstock Village priced from £199,950 to £368,950. For more information, please call 01278 589109.
