Growing family blossoms at Oak Tree Gardens

The open spaces and strong community spirit at Bloor Homes' Oak Tree Gardens development in Donington le Heath, proved a winning combination for one young couple buying their first home together.

Adele Perry, 23, and Stephen Byrne, 29, had been living in a two-bedroom terraced house in Coalville, and were keen to find the perfect place in which to start a family.
The pair purchased a three-bedroom detached house at Oak Tree Gardens using the Help to Buy scheme, and have since welcomed baby Alanna to their growing family, which also includes pet dog Ted.
Adele, who works part time as a nursery nurse in Coalville, said: “We wanted more space so we could build a family together and we were keen to stay in the Coalville area. I have always liked new builds because you can put your own stamp on them, so we looked at a number of developments in the area.
“The standard and quality of the finish at the Bloor Homes development really stood out and we really liked the location. Our house is opposite the green and the balancing pond, and just behind the development is a cow field which Ted loves going on.
“It’s a really safe environment for Ted and for Alanna when she grows up. We are away from the main road and the balancing pond is fenced off, so it’s a great place in which to bring up a family. There are quite a few families on the development and quite a few dogs, and there’s a really good community feel.”
Adele and Stephen, who works as a retail manager at Leicester City Football Club, purchased their new home using the Government’s Help to Buy equity loan scheme. This enabled them to secure the property with just a five per cent deposit and 75 per cent mortgage, with the remaining 20 per cent of the purchase price being provided as an equity loan, which is interest free for the first five years.
Adele added: “Because I work part-time we decided to use Help to Buy to reduce the size of our mortgage and give us that extra bit of financial stability. We used Bloor Homes’ recommended mortgage advisor and the whole process was pretty straightforward.
“We really like the layout of the house. There’s lots of space for a growing family, and all three bedrooms are a good size. Ted absolutely loves the house, and now we have Alanna it really does feel like home.”
