Rhys Nicholson joins the company from Barratt David Wilson, where he spent the past 12 years as commercial director.

Based at our regional office in Holmes Chapel, Rhys says his main priority is to increase the number of new homes being built throughout the region, which runs from North Wales and the Wirral to Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

He said: “I have been looking to take the next step in my career for some time and when this opportunity with Bloor Homes came up, it was simply too good to turn down.

“What really makes Bloor Homes stand out is the impressive quality of the build and my main goal is to increase the number of homes we deliver whilst maintaining those high standards. I will be looking to bring the skills and experience I have picked up during my time in the industry and blend that with the good practices at Bloor to help drive the business forward.”

Rhys spent six years in the Civil Service before opting for a career in housebuilding. He joined Persimmon as a trainee surveyor in 1997, leaving three years later to join David Wilson Homes where he was promoted to commercial director.

The 43 year old married father of three, who lives in South Manchester and counts food, film, music and design as among his hobbies, says his passion for housebuilding remains as strong as ever after 20 years in the industry.

“It still excites me. I firmly believe it’s the best industry to work in and I’m relishing the opportunity to work for a privately-owned housebuilder where the chain of command is short and decisions can be made quickly.

“The market is very strong at the moment. There is a housing shortage in the UK and we want to play a major role in meeting that demand.”
